Ouyang Nana Not Stripped of Nationality, Says Taiwanese Government

Ouyang Nana Faces Possible Probe Over China Support
Ouyang Nana’s Citizenship Revoked? Taiwan Says “Nah”—But There’s Heat Coming Her Way

The drama off-screen is getting louder than the ones on TV. Taiwanese cellist and actress Ouyang Nana—yep, the same Nana who’s been turning heads with her classical chops and acting gigs—is caught in a political whirlwind again, and this time, it’s hitting way close to home.

Rumours started swirling after a video popped up on YouTube claiming Nana got her Taiwanese citizenship stripped and banned from setting foot on the island. The reason? Her open love for China and her support for cross-strait reunification. Talk about lighting a fuse.

Taiwan Denies Revoking Ouyang Nana’s Nationality—but She Might Still Get Fined

But before anyone starts packing bags or waving flags, Taiwan’s authorities stepped in quick to shut it down. The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) officially labelled the viral claims as bogus. No one’s kicked her out (yet), and no citizenship has been revoked.

Still, things aren’t looking exactly chill for Nana. Officials confirmed that she’s on the radar—big time. She’s reportedly one of 20 celebs being scrutinised for publicly backing China’s unification stance, something Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party isn’t taking lightly. If found violating the Cross-Strait Act—basically Taiwan’s way of keeping pro-China moves in check—she could face fines ranging from NT$100,000 to NT$500,000 (roughly $3K to $15K USD).

Ouyang Nana’s Pro-Unification Stance Sparks Fresh Taiwan Backlash

And this isn’t new territory for Nana. Back in 2024, she backed a CCTV (China Central Television) pro-unification statement, even saying she sees herself as Chinese. The reaction from Taiwanese netizens? Ice cold. Many branded her a traitor, saying she turned her back on her home soil.

Adding fuel to the fire, she was recently made the cultural tourism ambassador for Ji’an City in Jiangxi, China. A move that many saw as yet another big public show of where her loyalty lies.

Taiwan’s Got Ouyang Nana on Their Radar

As of now, Nana hasn’t spoken out about the citizenship rumour or the possible investigation. But Taiwanese folks online? They’re not holding back. Plenty are calling for action—some even saying if she wants to be Chinese, she shouldn’t hold on to her Taiwanese status at all.

While this might just be another round of internet smoke, it’s clear Nana’s stance has put her in hot water with the folks back home. And whether or not the law bites back, her image in Taiwan is already taking the hit.
