Luo Yunxi’s Comeback in Shui Long Yin Is Mad Epic

After Two Flops, Luo Yunxi's Back Swingin’ in Shui Long Yin – And He Ain’t Playin’

The king of heartbreak eyes and ancient-style angst, Luo Yunxi, is back from the dead. After getting clobbered by back-to-back flops (‘Love of Panacea’ and ‘Follow Your Heart’ didn’t exactly do bits), the lad’s come roaring back with a fantasy-action xianxia beast called Shui Long Yin – aka Whispers of Fate.

And trust us, this one’s looking proper mad.

The trailer just dropped and it’s already doing laps – 4 million views in a blink. People online are losing the plot, saying this might be Luo Yunxi’s real comeback gig. And fair enough. From what we’ve seen? It’s looking crisp, cinematic and straight-up dangerous.

What’s It About Then?

Based on Tong Ping’s novel “Qian Jie Mei”, the story follows Tang Lici – played by Yunxi – a mysterious martial artist from another realm who’s got a deadly technique called Wang Sheng Pu. Sounds cool, right? Problem is, the fella’s too powerful. Folks see him as a walking threat – a monster. But deep down, he just wants redemption and peace. Of course, nothing’s ever that simple.

Cue fights with his former brother-in-arms, Liu Yan (played by the ever-smooth Fang Yilun), dilemmas with the girl A Shui (Lin Yun), and a whole crew of wild characters that’ll either stab him in the back or stand by his side. Classic xianxia heartbreak chaos.

And don’t even get us started on the line that broke the internet: “As a monster… do you know how precious forgiveness is?” Oof.

Cinematic AF – Not Just a Drama, Mate

Everyone’s saying the same thing: “this doesn’t look like a drama – it looks like a film.” And they’re not wrong.

There’s a scene where Tang Lici whips out a flute – not for a tune, but to summon a blood dragon made of sound waves. It flies out and shreds through the battlefield like something outta Studio Ghibli meets Crouching Tiger. Madness.

Oh, and then there’s the blizzard fight, the golden Buddha statue glowing like it’s about to drop spiritual judgment, and entire set pieces that look like they blew the whole budget in one go. They’re not mucking about – the VFX in this are pure cinema.

Costumes? Straight Fire

If you’re into your ancient Chinese drip, this drama’s serving. The costume designer’s pulled inspo from the Yin, Han, Song and Ming dynasties – and it shows. There’s that regal Yan-Zhao vibe, weighty Zhongyuan flair, and the elegant softness of Jiangnan. Every frame’s a vibe.

Luo Yunxi's character looks lethal in black, mysterious in white hair with scars, and even cooler wielding that musical pipe like it’s a sword. It’s giving duality, it’s giving danger, it’s giving “why does he look this good while fighting demons?”

The Buzz Is Real

Over 1.3 million people have signed up to watch the premiere. And we’re not just chatting Weibo hype – international fans are clocking in too. Some reckon this might end up as the most iconic xianxia of 2025.

Let’s be real – Luo Yunxi’s got something to prove, and from the looks of this trailer? He’s not just proving it – he’s flexing hard.
