Singaporean actress Eleanor Lee (also known as Li Kaixin) has finally come out swinging after being dragged into an online mess sparked by a dodgy audio recording that claimed she insulted Chinese people. In a video posted on Weibo, Eleanor kept it calm but firm, starting off with: “Hello everyone, I’m actress Li Kaixin.”
She didn’t beat around the bush. “Regarding the recent fake audio circulating online, I have already reported the matter to the police and fully cooperated with the investigation,” she said.
Turns out the clip was cooked up during a bitter fall-out with her former assistant, who’d sneakily recorded bits of her everyday chats, mashed them together, and twisted them into something completely out of line. “After receiving criticism and being educated by public security authorities, I now realise the seriousness of my actions… I hereby issue this clarification and extend my sincere apologies to Eleanor.”
They even begged others to stop forwarding the clip and to help “maintain a clean and healthy online environment.”

Eleanor’s studio reposted the assistant’s apology and confirmed that they had already gone to the police as early as 13 May. The police investigation backed her story, confirming the audio was a “malicious rumour” and a violation of her legal rights.
