| From Shibuya to the Mouse House: King & Prince x Mickey in Japan’s First-Ever Disney Collab |
King & Prince just gave fans the ultimate anniversary gift — and it comes wrapped in mouse ears and magic. Today, 25 May, marks seven years since the iconic “Cinderella Girl” debut, and to celebrate, the boys have dropped a brand-new digital single: “What We Got ~Kiseki wa Kimi to~.”
But this ain’t just any feel-good tune. Nope — this one’s laced with Disney sparkle. The track is officially Mickey Mouse’s new theme song for Japan, and it’s all part of Disney’s massive global campaign “Mickey & Friends in Real Life,” as the House of Mouse gears up for Mickey’s 100th anniversary in 2028. Fitting, innit? That same year will also mark 10 years of King & Prince — fate or what?
The track itself is a Japanese reimagining of “What We Got (Mickey’s Birthday Song)” from 2016. But here’s the kicker — the boys didn’t just sing it, they translated the lyrics themselves, bringing that signature K&P warmth and meaning to the Japanese version. The song’s all about embracing your true self while showing love and respect to others — peak Disney vibes, with a J-pop twist.
Oh, and how did they announce this magical team-up? Not with a tweet. Not with a teaser. But with a phone call — from Mickey Mouse himself — live on stage during their “Re:ERA” dome tour stop in Fukuoka earlier this month. Talk about a power move.
The Disney US HQ has already given the tune a massive thumbs up, saying it hits all the right notes thematically and musically. Pretty major praise from the Mouse House.
To go with the drop, there’s now a teaser video out showing King & Prince hanging out with Mickey and the gang right in the middle of Shibuya. We’re talking real-world meets fantasy, and it’s the first time ever a Japanese act’s teamed up like this with Mickey & Friends on-screen. Bit of history being made, no big deal.
The full version of the video’s coming later this summer, and will no doubt be packed with more heart-melting moments and behind-the-scenes Disney-K&P chemistry.
