Ishihara Satomi Announces Birth of Second Child, Grateful for New Chapter as Family of Four (Livedoor)

Japanese actress Ishihara Satomi has officially welcomed her second child, as confirmed through a statement released by her agency, Horipro, on 17 May. Both mother and child are reported to be in good health.

In the announcement, the agency expressed its deep appreciation to all those who have supported Ishihara throughout this journey. “We are pleased to share that our artist, Ishihara Satomi, has safely given birth to her second child. We are happy to report that both mother and baby are doing well. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their support, and we ask for your continued warm encouragement.”

Details such as the child’s birth date and gender were intentionally withheld to respect the family's privacy. “Today is not the child’s birthday, and we are unable to disclose further personal information such as birthdate or gender,” the statement noted, kindly requesting understanding from the public.

Satomi Ishihara herself also issued a personal message, reflecting on the profound emotions surrounding the birth. “I am grateful to announce the safe arrival of our second child. As with our first child three years ago, the same doctor and midwife were there to lift the baby into my arms. I was overwhelmed with emotion, and tears flowed without hesitation.”

She continued by extending sincere thanks to her family, friends, medical staff, and her agency for their kindness and unwavering support. “Thanks to everyone around me, including those who sent warm messages of encouragement, we are now able to begin this new chapter as a family of four. I hope to raise this second precious life with the utmost care.”

Reflecting on the season and the broader world, she added, “As we enter a time of seasonal change, I hope everyone stays in good health. I sincerely pray that the world becomes a gentler place for all living beings.”

The actress, now 38, married a non-celebrity man in October 2020 and gave birth to their first child in April 2022. In March this year, her agency publicly confirmed her second pregnancy, during which Ishihara shared her hopes for a safe delivery and thanked fans and colleagues for their understanding and support.

Most recently, Ishihara had appeared on NHK’s programme Ashita ga Kawaru Torisetsu Show, where she announced she would be going on maternity leave. Appearing with a warm smile, she told viewers, “I will be taking a break starting next time. I hope to return once I’ve regained my energy. Until then, thank you very much for your support.”

Looking ahead, Horipro has stated that Ishihara’s work commitments will be adjusted in consideration of her health and family life. “We will continue to move forward based on discussions with her, with her wellbeing and childcare as top priorities,” the agency confirmed.

As one of Japan’s most beloved actresses, Ishihara’s heartfelt message and respectful handling of the news have been met with widespread warmth and support from fans both in Japan and abroad.
