It’s been a quiet year for Hu Lianxin, but she’s slowly stepping back into the spotlight – and she’s not afraid to be vulnerable about it.

During a recent chat with fans, the 24-year-old actress, best known for her role as Yang Mi’s sister Tushan Rongrong in Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact, gave a heartfelt message.

“I’m going to appear in a drama… please don’t shun me,” she said, adding a soft smile that seemed both hopeful and nervous.

It’s the first time she’s addressed the public in such an open manner since last year’s online storm – a scandal that all but froze her rising career.

The controversy?

A 20-minute recording of a rather intimate video chat surfaced online, with many claiming the woman in the clip was Hu Lianxin.

Hu Lianxin Reflects on Scandal and Comeback

The speculation was fuelled by a very telling facial mole and the woman’s silhouette, which fans (and online sleuths) quickly matched to the actress.

To make matters messier, the leak was followed by a cryptic post from Hu Lianxin on social media: “I hope that all women in their darkest moments and all victims in despair can be protected by justice.”

No names were dropped, but many assumed she was referring to the leaked footage – and possibly pointing fingers at an ex-boyfriend.

Some netizens urged her to go to the police, while others speculated it might’ve been the result of AI manipulation.

Whatever the truth, it left a mark.

Since then, rumours have swirled that her resources in the industry were quietly downgraded.

Not officially blacklisted, but not getting the same attention either.

In her fan chat, Hu didn’t dwell on the details but did admit she’s in an “adjustment period”.

She said she hopes to build up her acting experience again and is grateful to those who stood by her during what she called “the most difficult period” of her life.

“Thank you for saving me,” she told fans, voice soft but firm. “Thank you for not leaving when it felt like the whole world did.”

Whether her new project marks a true comeback or a quiet restart remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure – Hu Lianxin is ready to face the camera again, even if the spotlight still feels a bit too bright.
