Gunjah Bangiras Confirms Disbandment After Three Years Together

Why Gunjah Bangiras Disband
Nyannyan & Hamu Step Off the Idol Stage: Gunjah Bangiras Disbands This Autumn

Well, that’s the end of the road for one of Kyushu’s most unpredictable idol collectives. Gunjah Bangiras (ガンジャバンギラス), the wild Fukuoka-based idol unit with a name as chaotic as their energy, have officially announced they’ll be disbanding after their 3rd anniversary live on 3 September 2025 at DRUM LOGOS.

Formed in August 2022, Gunjah Bangiras made their explosive stage debut at Fukuoka Tenjin graf just a month later. Known among indie idol circles for their rowdy performances, unpredictable member line-up, and a colour-coded cast that looked like a sentai squad gone rogue, the group quickly became a cult favourite in the underground J-pop scene.

According to an official statement from their agency, YABACUBE INC., the decision to disband came after the remaining founding members — Nyannyan Mao (purple, leader) and Amaguni Hamu (pink) — reflected on their three-year journey and decided they’d "done all they set out to do as idols."

The agency described the split as an amicable exit, with both members set to leave YABACUBE completely.

As for the newest member, Kuroshima Maguro (black), who joined just last July, her future plans are still up in the air. The agency mentioned she’s currently considering her options, and fans can expect a separate update about her direction post-disbandment.

The farewell live — doubling as their 3rd anniversary celebration — is set for 3 September at Fukuoka DRUM LOGOS, marking both an emotional send-off and a full-circle moment for the group.

🌀 Who Were Gunjah Bangiras?

If you never caught them live, Gunjah were less polished idol princesses and more punk-spirited idols with glitter. Formed with five original members in 2022, the line-up saw plenty of shake-ups along the way:

  • Yamada Mumei (red) left in June 2023.

  • Tsukumo Tenshi (white) was fired in March 2024 — reasons still never made public.

  • Nemui Nemu (light blue) graduated in June 2024.

  • Hinai Tsugu (yellow) joined in July 2024 but bowed out by the end of the year.

With just three active members as of now, fans suspected things were winding down — but this official confirmation still hits hard.

💬 Fan Reactions Pour In

Reactions across idol Twitter and Japanese SNS have been mixed. Long-time fans are gutted but understanding. One fan wrote:

“Gunjah always did things their way. I’ll miss the madness, but I’m glad they get to leave on their own terms.”

Another posted:

"From graf to LOGOS… this is gonna be an emotional final live. I’m not ready.”

As of writing, no farewell merch or final release has been announced — though many are hoping for at least one last digital drop or photobook to mark the end of the road.

💡 What’s Next?

There’s no word yet on whether Nyannyan Mao or Hamu will pursue solo careers, switch industries, or vanish into the sunset. Gunjah always prided themselves on doing things outside the box — so we wouldn’t be shocked if they turn up running a ramen shop or DJing at warehouse parties in a few years.

Either way, one thing’s for certain: the end of Gunjah Bangiras leaves a sparkly, screaming, bass-thumping hole in the Fukuoka idol scene. They were weird. They were loud. And they were one hell of a ride.

If you’re local — or just dedicated enough to make the trip — their final live on 3 September 2025 at DRUM LOGOS might just be the idol send-off of the year.
