Esther Yu’s Hometown to Snowy Peaks – A Location Tour of Ski Into Love |
📍 Nancheng, Jiangxi Province
![]() |
Let’s start at the beginning – quite literally. The story kicks off in Nancheng, a picturesque city in southern China’s Jiangxi Province. Known for its old-school charm and slower pace of life, Nancheng gave the show some solid roots. Fun fact: it’s also where Esther Yu’s mum’s from, so filming here had a bit of a personal vibe. Think winding lanes, local markets, and cosy visuals that made Wei Zhi’s early life feel real.
⛷️ Beishan Ski Resort, Jilin Province

Proper snowy, crisp, and big on vibes, this place served as the perfect backdrop for Wei Zhi’s snowboarding transformation arc. The drama's snow sequences were shot with guidance from real athletes, adding legit detail to every slope and stunt.
🏂 Songhua Lake & Beidahu Ski Resorts

But hold up – Beishan wasn’t the only winter wonderland used. The production also ventured into Songhua Lake and Beidahu Ski Resorts, also located in Jilin.
These spots brought more variation to the visuals – from high-speed race courses to gentle snowy woods. The icy silence, the sun slicing through frosted trees – all that wasn’t just CGI. They really went in on the location scouting.
🕌 Urumqi Silk Road International Ski Resort, Xinjiang

For those vast, dramatic slope shots that looked like they were ripped straight from a tourism ad? That’s the Urumqi Silk Road International Ski Resort in Xinjiang. It's one of China’s top-tier ski spots, with panoramic landscapes that gave the drama its high-altitude drama. Literally.

🌆 Changsha, Hunan Province
Away from the snow, some everyday city scenes were filmed in Changsha – a buzzy urban hub in central China. The contrast between city lights and mountain mists really hit different. Wei Zhi’s normal life scenes gave us a breather from the intensity of training montages and icy standoffs.

🌴 Bonus: Xiamen
While not confirmed for many key scenes, it’s known the crew dipped into Xiamen too – possibly for those warm flashbacks or promotional bits. Either way, Xiamen’s seaside charm might’ve slipped into the mix subtly.
🎥 Real Snow, Real Stunts, Real Champion Cameos
Filming kicked off in Feb 2024 and wrapped by June 2024 – pretty tight for a winter sports drama, right? But the crew didn’t cut corners. Olympic gold medallist Wu Dajing even made a cameo and consulted on the snowboarding choreography, alongside a crew of pro stunt performers. That’s why everything from board grip to body posture actually looked convincing – no wobbly green screen jobs here.
