Darren Wang Talu's Legal Troubles Grow Amid New Privacy Law Charges |
Just when you thought Wang Dalu aka Wang Talu aka Darren Wang’s name might finally slip out of the headlines, boom – another legal mess lands right at his feet.
The 33-year-old Taiwanese actor, already under fire earlier this year for allegedly dodging his mandatory military service and getting tangled in a scandal involving a driver getting beaten up, is now staring down another lawsuit.
On 1 May, prosecutors officially filed charges against him and five others.
The latest drama?
Darren Wang’s being accused of pulling strings via gang contacts to access private information — all without any legal authority.
Let’s break it down.
Darren Wang reportedly forked out NT$3.6 million (around £90,000) to a man surnamed Chen, known to be a big shot in Taiwan’s Four Seas Gang, to help him dodge military service.
But when Chen vanished after getting nabbed in a separate case, Wang Talu thought he’d been duped.
So instead of letting the law handle it, he allegedly got his pal You Xiangmin (son of a luxury car dealer) to reach out to police captain Liu Jurong, who then illegally accessed Chen’s personal data — address, phone number, the whole lot — and passed it along.
And it doesn’t stop there.
Darren Wang’s influencer girlfriend Mu Xuan got scammed in an investment scheme by a man surnamed Pan.
Again, rather than going through proper channels, Wang and crew reportedly called up Chen to dig into Pan’s and even his relatives’ personal info.

That data was allegedly passed around like it was nothing, thanks to more shady backdoor connections.
Prosecutors in New Taipei have now charged Darren and five others with a whole list of offences: forging documents, violating personal data laws, and even leaking official secrets.
As for Xiangmin and Chen, they were each granted bail at NT$2 million and NT$1 million respectively — but not without conditions.
They're banned from leaving the country or moving house for now.
After the court hearing, the two men left in silence — You hiding behind a mask, Chen unbothered with his face on full display.
Darren’s original draft-dodging case is still under investigation.
The Uber driver assault scandal from earlier this year? That’s been dropped, apparently after a private settlement.
But let’s be real — from alleged military evasion to gangland favours, and now personal data snooping — Darren Wang’s clean-cut star image is taking some serious hits.
Whether this is career-crushing or just another idol scandal Taiwan shrugs off, we’ll have to wait and see.
