Like Father, Like Daughter: Eason Chan’s Little Starlet Constance Chan aka Kandy Set to Make Her Music Debut

Well, well, look who’s stepping into the limelight – it’s Kandy Chan, the only daughter of Cantopop legend Eason Chan and fashionista/former actress Hilary Tsui, and she’s not messing about. The 20-year-old – real name Constance Chan, stage name Kandy – has officially signed with Warner Music and is prepping to drop her first tracks. Yep, another Chan is about to hit our playlists.

Now if you’ve followed Eason over the years, you’ll know he’s been properly vocal about not wanting his daughter in showbiz. He’s said straight up that the entertainment world’s “too messy”, and he’d rather she steer clear. But turns out musical blood runs deep – and Kandy’s not just inherited Eason’s ear for melody, but Hilary’s flair too. When your dad’s a vocal king and your mum’s a style icon, what else are you gonna do?

Warner Music confirmed her signing, teasing fans with a “stay tuned” for her music debut. She’ll be labelmates with the likes of MC Cheung and Panther Chan – talk about a strong lineup to join. No word yet on what genre or sound she’s going for, but knowing her circle, it’s bound to have flavour.

And get this – if you go back and listen to Eason’s 2022 track “Blind Marriage Dumb Wedding” (《盲婚啞嫁》), there’s a soft female backing vocal in the final chorus. Fans have speculated that’s Kandy herself, credited as part of the BAO vocal harmony. Bit of a lowkey Easter egg, innit?

What’s more, Kandy’s not just got superstar parents – she’s also got Wyman Wong in her corner, Eason’s longtime lyricist and family mate. Fun trivia: Wyman helped name her Constance back in the day. With a team like that, she’s definitely not entering the game alone.

Even though Eason and Hilary used to keep her well away from public eye – hardly any Insta snaps, no red carpet cameos – clips from three years back have resurfaced online. One in particular shows Kandy performing Crowd Lu’s “I Love You” in a denim slit dress and leather boots, proper cool-girl energy. Bit shy on stage back then, but the voice? Solid foundations. The vibe? Like her dad but with her mum’s edge.

Looks like she’s not trying to be a carbon copy of either parent, but build her own path – and we rate that.

So the big question now: will Kandy Chan be Cantopop’s next It-girl? Or is she about to carve a brand new lane altogether? Either way, all eyes (and ears) are on her.

Keep your eyes peeled – her first release could drop any time this year. And knowing how the Chans move… it’ll be worth the wait.
