Chung Fat Criticises Jackie Chan for Mistreatment of Stunt Team

Actor Chung Fat Speaks Out on Jackie Chan’s Alleged Neglect of Stuntmen

Hong Kong action legend Chung Fat didn’t hold back in a recent interview, calling out none other than Jackie Chan for what he says was poor treatment of the bros in the Jackie Chan Stunt Team.

Chung Fat – a veteran in the industry and known for his work across countless martial arts flicks – opened up about the brutal realities behind the scenes for stunt performers, especially back in the heyday of Hong Kong action cinema.

And while he made it clear that being a stuntman is already a tough life, he believes having a solid boss makes all the difference.

Sadly, according to Chung, Jackie wasn’t it.

In a rare moment of raw honesty, Chung dropped some heavy accusations, saying Jackie didn’t take care of the very people who made him who he is.

“Mars (Cheung Wing-Fat) was the most miserable one,” he said, referring to Jackie’s longtime best mate and fellow stuntman.

“He worked the hardest. All the stunt doubles came from Mars… they all worked so hard.”

Chung Fat Says Jackie Chan Ignored Injured Stuntman During Police Story Shoot

And yet, Chung believes Jackie could’ve easily helped them out long-term – but didn’t. “He could’ve supported them for life with just a small portion of his fortune,” he argued. “Why didn’t you?”

He even shared a shocking story from the filming of Police Story (1985) – a movie that basically cemented Jackie’s superstar status.

“Two guys jumped off a double-decker bus. One of them, Chris Kin-Sang Lee, ended up unconscious in the hospital for days. Jackie didn’t even go see him,” Chung claimed.

“That’s why I’m exposing this. Let him grit his teeth, let him come talk to me. I absolutely have the right to say these things.”

And Chung didn’t stop there – he made a point of saying Jackie’s success was never a solo act.

“Jackie Chan, where would you be without your team? You wouldn’t be where you are without Sammo Hung,” he said bluntly.

In stark contrast, Chung was full of praise for big bro Sammo Hung and Wong Ping Yiu, who he says truly looked out for their people.

“I praise big brother Sammo. He and Wong Ping Yiu put in so much effort to tailor roles for us,” Chung said gratefully.

“Thanks to Sammo, the whole Hung Ga Ban (Sammo Hung Stunt Team) was able to stand on their own feet.”

In an industry built on sweat, risk, and unspoken loyalty, Chung Fat’s words have hit like a punch to the gut – and it looks like the ripples are just beginning.
