A simple but touching “Welcome to the Ohtani family!” followed by a warm thank you to his “beloved wife” for bringing their beautiful daughter into the world.
“I am truly grateful to my loving wife for giving birth to our healthy and beautiful daughter,” he wrote.
Shohei Ohtani didn’t stop there.
He gave a shoutout to his teammates, the Dodgers organisation, and fans everywhere for their unwavering support.
And in a classy move, he thanked all the medical professionals and everyone who’s helped them get to this moment.

The timing checks out — Ohtani was just placed on MLB’s paternity list (yes, that’s a thing!) and briefly stepped away from the team to be there for the birth.
The leave can last up to three days, and honestly, he’s earned it.
Fans may remember that Ohtani shocked the world back in February 2024 when he revealed he had tied the knot with Mamiko, though he kept her identity private at first, calling her simply “a Japanese woman.”
A few months later, her name was revealed to be Tanaka Mamiko, a former standout basketball player.
In December, Shohei Ohtani shared the couple was expecting, posting a cute ultrasound photo alongside baby gear and their dog Decopin looking extremely ready to be a big sibling.
“Can’t wait to welcome our little rookie to the family!” he wrote back then.
