After months of murmurs, winks, and whispers, MIRROR’s Edan Lui has finally addressed the swirling rumours about his relationship with Malaysian actress Lin Min Chen—and he’s done it in true Edan style: honest, a little cheeky, and with just enough ambiguity to keep fans guessing.

During a late-night livestream that pulled in over 430,000 viewers, the 27-year-old Hong Kong singer admitted that a certain someone—whom he didn’t name directly—is “a very good girl” and “an important person” in his life.

Not exactly a confirmation, but let’s be honest: we all know who he’s talking about.

The livestream followed over ten days of speculation and criticism online, sparked by an awkward backstage moment at the CHILL CLUB Awards where a reporter referred to Lin Min Chen as Edan’s “girlfriend”.

Edan Lui’s visibly flustered response—one part denial, one part frustration—fuelled backlash from fans who felt he was dodging the question.

But on stream, he didn’t hold back.

Addressing the pressure head-on, Lui said he’s been bombarded with harsh messages, many targeting Lin directly. “What others say is irrelevant,” he said.

“I only focus on what’s important to me.”

He also cleared the air on his latest song (the one everyone assumed was a subtle nod to her), saying the lyrics were written by Wyman Wong, not him.

And it’s clear the pressure’s been getting to him.

Edan Lui confessed that the past six months have been mentally exhausting, filled with internal doubts and moments where he questioned everything—from his decisions to his future in the industry.

After seven years in the spotlight, it’s not all glitz and glamour.

Earlier that evening, though, Edan managed to bring some levity to the stage.

Performing with five castmates from Run For Your Live at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, he showed up in a low-cut yellow dress over a white top—yes, in full drag—and had the audience howling.

A pretend smooch with fellow performer Fei Cheung sent fans into hysterics, proving he hasn’t lost his signature cheeky charm.

Later, speaking to reporters post-show, Edan played it cool. When asked about the drag outfit, he joked that he hadn’t shaved his legs because he “needed the warmth.”

He also voiced support for fellow MIRROR members—standing by Jeremy, who’s been caught in a plagiarism row, and saying Keung To is “holding up well” amid criticism from director Wong Jing.

Not long before the livestream, Edan had also shared more candid thoughts with the press.

He confirmed he and Lin are “getting to know each other” and said, “If there’s good news, I’ll tell you all.”

When asked whether he planned to attend Lin’s fan meet in Hong Kong later this month, he replied firmly, “If I want to meet her, I’ll ask her out myself. Everyone, please have mercy.”

He even posted a blunt but heartfelt statement on his Instagram Story: “Just wanna be real.”

Their rumoured romance first made headlines in August 2024, when the two were spotted having dinner together in Europe.

At the time, Edan downplayed the speculation, saying it was a casual meet-up while they both happened to be overseas.

But from the sounds of it, things may have developed since then—slowly, quietly, and under a lot of pressure.

“I have a good impression of her,” Edan said. “I’m pursuing her. Hopefully there’s room for something to grow. But for now—we’re just friends.”

One step at a time, yeah?
