Liu Meihan Issues Apology After Counterfeit Items Found at Her Flea Market (Weibo) |
Well, this is awkward. Chinese actress Liu Meihan has found herself in a bit of a sticky situation after her second-hand pop-up market came under fire for allegedly selling fake designer items – think MIUMIU knits and LV bags that weren’t quite what they claimed to be.

The whole thing kicked off when a netizen shared their unfortunate shopping experience online, claiming they’d bought a MIUMIU jumper from Liu Meihan’s "Idle Circulation Project 2.2 Market" – only to realise the label looked… off.

They’d trusted that a celebrity-run market wouldn’t be shifting fakes, but alas, the truth unravelled faster than a dodgy sweater seam.

As the post gained traction and eyebrows began to raise, Liu Meihan responded quickly.
She uploaded a candid video on social media, owning up to the issue and offering a full explanation.
According to her, the problem stemmed from a lack of proper checks during the prep phase – a few iffy items had slipped through the cracks.
One of those items? Apparently a friend’s, not even hers.
But still, Liu Meihan didn’t dodge the blame.
"I'm the organiser, and I’ll take full responsibility," she said, adding that she's been personally reaching out to affected buyers and sorting things out one by one.
Refunds have already been issued – full compensation plus travel costs, in at least one case. Fair play to that.
“I don’t want this one mistake to overshadow the goodwill me and my mates put into this event,” she said.
“Yes, we messed up. But I’ll face it head-on, learn from it, and keep things transparent from now on.”
Liu Meihan also pledged to donate part of the market’s profits to the “One Hundred Million Haloxylon Trees” charity initiative – a move that feels both sincere and smart PR.
Her team’s also said they're tightening procedures going forward – more checks, stricter screening, and making sure every pre-loved item is exactly what it claims to be.
For those who need a refresher, Liu Meihan first made waves in 2005 with Girl’s Diary, then became a household name playing the iconic dark fairy Yan Lili in Balala the Fairies.
These days, she’s juggling acting gigs with lifestyle projects like this market – though we’re guessing she’ll be triple-checking the stock next time.
All in all, a bit of a fashion faux pas, but handled with grace. Let’s hope this is just a one-time wardrobe malfunction in Liu’s otherwise polished public image.
