Kanna Hashimoto and Nozomi Sasaki lit up the press conference scene on 16 April as they joined fellow cast members to unveil the upcoming TV Asahi medical mystery drama, “Takaoka Ameku’s Diagnostic Notes” (airing from the 22nd, Tuesdays at 9PM).

And let’s be honest—it wasn’t just the drama stealing the spotlight.

The real show was the sparkling energy between these two stunners.

This marks Hashimoto’s first major gig after the NHK morning drama “Omusubi”, and she's making big moves: her first lead role in a primetime drama on TV Asahi and her first time donning the white coat as a genius doctor. Talk about levelling up.

“Dr. Takaoka’s character is really intense,” Hashimoto shared, “with loads of layers. It’s a challenge I’ve never tackled before, and I’m loving it. Feels like I’m stepping into new territory.”

The drama’s based on a bestselling novel by real-life doctor-turned-author Mikito Chinen, where Hashimoto plays a medical Sherlock Holmes, solving bizarre cases with sharp diagnosis and a no-nonsense attitude.

Think brainy meets bold.

When asked what kind of genius she’d like to be, the ever-busy Kanna cracked a grin and said: “I want to be the kind of genius who’s always full of beans—even on barely any sleep!”

Cue Nozomi Sasaki, cheekily but lovingly chiming in: “But you already are full of energy!”

Co-star Mei Hata nodded in agreement: “Honestly, I don’t know how she does it. Even with next to no sleep, she’s constantly buzzing.”

Kanna laughed and shrugged: “Well, in that case, maybe I’m halfway there. But I still wish I had the talent to properly rest even on short sleep. That would be amazing.”

Between the humour, glam, and good vibes, the cast has clearly got great chemistry off-screen. If that translates on-screen, we might be in for a cracking series.

Stay tuned—because sleepy or not, Hashimoto Kanna’s ready to diagnose mysteries, sass intact.
