Ju Jingyi Levels Up: Two Fantasy Drama Leads and a Whole New Career Chapter |
Ex-SNH48 member Ju Jingyi aka Kiku is back, and she’s levelling up — big time. The singer-actress has just been officially announced as the female lead in not one but two major Chinese dramas: Lai Zhan and Wanhua Sin, both with big names behind them and fantasy premises that promise chaos, beauty, and lots of drama.
First up, Lai Zhan — an adaptation of the popular xianxia novel Shifu Come Fight (师父又掉线了) by author Jiu Lu Fei Xiang.
The story follows a young orphan girl who rises through the ranks to become a key player in the high-stakes world of immortals.
Ju Jingyi will be playing the lead role, and starring opposite her is none other than Zhang Yunlong (Johnny Zhang), known for his strong screen presence in fantasy and modern dramas alike.
With a mix of cultivation, master-disciple intrigue, and plenty of spark, fans are already buzzing.
Then there’s Wanhua Sin ("Ten Thousand Illusions"), based on Tencent’s mega-popular webtoon Cheating Men Must Die — a fast-paced, darkly witty, multiverse tale where Ju Jingyi plays Su Luxia, a cunning beauty tasked with entering different fictional worlds and dishing out karmic justice on terrible men.
Think magical missions, switching identities, and getting her revenge with flair. Each arc has new male leads, fresh storylines, and just enough drama to keep viewers coming back for more.
Both dramas are produced by Stellar Pictures — the same core team who brought us Love Between Fairy and Devil, so we know they’ve got the chops for grand visuals, dreamy sets, and swoony slow-mos.
For Ju Jingyi, now 30, this marks a pretty serious shift in her career.

She’s no stranger to criticism — her acting has had its ups and downs, and rumours around her former agency situation didn't help.
But ever since parting ways with her old management, she's been pushing into more mature, varied roles.
These new dramas could be just what she needs to silence the critics and rebrand herself from idol-actress to true leading lady.
Meanwhile, things got even spicier when Wanhua Sin trended — not just because of Ju Jingyi's casting, but because the internet still remembers that for ages, Dilraba Dilmurat was rumoured to be in talks for the role of Su Luxia.
Her name alone brought massive attention to the project last year, even though her team never confirmed it.
Some fans even called out the production for allegedly riding on her star power to boost interest early on.
Now that it’s Ju Jingyi in the role, eyes are turning to the question of: who will play her male leads?
Since Wanhua Sin features multiple mini-arcs across different universes, there’s room for several swoon-worthy co-stars.
Su Luxia herself is no ordinary heroine — she’s smart, gorgeous, unflinchingly savage when needed, and carries out missions for a mysterious organisation with a system that jumps her from one world to the next.
Basically, it’s the kind of meaty, stylish role that could become iconic if done right.
And given the creative team and the source material’s cult following, it’s shaping up to be one of the buzziest fantasy offerings in the pipeline.
Whether you’re here for the revenge plots, the handsome rotating male leads, or to see Ju Jingyi step into her main character era, one thing’s clear — 2025 might just be her most ambitious year yet.
