J-Pop Singer milet Takes Hiatus to Rest and Reflect

Japanese singer-songwriter milet has announced she’s hitting pause on her music career for a while, saying she needs time to rest and recharge after years of non-stop activity since her debut in 2018.

In a heartfelt message on her official website, milet thanked fans for their continued support and shared that she’s been running at full speed for quite some time.

She feels it’s the right moment to take a breather so she can continue singing for years to come.

“I’ve been going non-stop since my debut, and I think it’s time to finally give myself a proper rest,” she wrote.

“I want to face my mind and body honestly so I can keep singing in the future.”

She reassured fans that while she’ll be stepping away from work, she’ll still update her social media and fan club whenever she feels like it.

So it’s not a complete disappearance—just less spotlight for now.

For those who were looking forward to her live performances, she apologised and asked for a little patience.

“I’m really sorry to those waiting for my live shows. I’ll be back, so I’d love it if you could wait just a bit.”

milet also took the chance to remind everyone that health should always come first.

“I truly believe that staying healthy is the most important thing,” she said.

“And I always hope that you, my beloved fans, are healthy and happy too.”

Although she’s stepping back, she’s already brimming with ideas and songs she’s excited to share once she’s ready to return.

“There are so many things I want to do, and songs I want to sing. I can’t wait to meet you again at a live show.”

This hiatus comes just weeks after milet made her acting debut in the film Shiranai Kanojo, starring Kento Nakajima and directed by Takahiro Miki.

Born in Tokyo, milet’s age has never been publicly disclosed, but her rise to fame has been nothing short of impressive.

Since kicking off her music career in 2018, she performed at international events like YSL Beauty Hotel in Paris and New York, made her official debut in 2019, sang “Hymne à l’amour” at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games closing ceremony, and contributed theme songs to NHK’s Winter Sports in 2022.

She’s also performed overseas—most notably her first solo show in Taiwan in 2023—and appeared in NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen for four consecutive years starting in 2020.

With her unique voice and emotional delivery, milet has carved out a solid space in the Japanese music scene. Her decision to step back might come as a surprise, but it’s also a reminder that even the strongest voices need a moment to breathe.
