Hold onto your guqins – a new Chinese fantasy drama is tuning up to hit our screens, and it’s sounding all kinds of epic. Tencent’s latest offering, Gu Yue Feng Hua Lu (also known as Ancient Music Records or Qin Se), has officially revealed its full cast – and it’s nothing short of massive.
Leading the charge is the ever-enchanting Li Yitong, starring as Yue Yangyang – an ordinary musician with a mysterious vibe, who also moonlights as the music spirit Xiyin.
Sharing the spotlight is rising star Chen Xinhai, playing Shao Yi, a cold and aloof amnesiac spirit freshly escaped from a magical seal (you know, the usual fantasy stuff).
Set in a mythical world where traditional Chinese instruments take human form – yes, really – this series promises not just spellbinding visuals, but emotional journeys as well.
The promos, drenched in ethereal Dunhuang-inspired beauty, have already stirred major buzz.
And let’s be honest, the production team at Stellar are known for delivering eye-candy drama, so expectations are high.
But with a cast this big, there’s always a risk.
Viewers still remember the visual feast (and narrative flop) that was Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact. Fingers crossed that this one doesn’t get lost in its own lore.
The ensemble cast is jam-packed with familiar faces and fresh talent.
Guo Junchen appears as Zhu Li, while He Luoluo becomes the personified flute, Xia Chan (yes, he’s a literal flute).
Xiao Yan, Gu Zicheng, Qian Jiadi, and Chen Zhiyan also join the mix, along with special appearances from Yang Shize, Li Gengyun, Chang Huasen, Zhao Yibo, and Riley Wang.
And just when you think the roster’s full, friendly cameos roll in from Jia Nai Na, Terence Yin, Icey Dong Yan, and adorable child actor Lu Yuhao.

The Plot:
Our heroine Yue Yangyang crosses paths with Shao Yi after he breaks out of a long-held seal.

What starts as mutual help turns into love… only to hit a rocky patch thanks to a classic misunderstanding.
As chaos brews, they must confront the pain of the past, solve the mysteries surrounding the twelve fallen holy music spirits, and rewrite the fabled divine score known as "Feng Hua Lu".
It’s a journey of growth, reconciliation, and harmony (both literal and emotional).
In the end, they rise above conflict to bring hope to the world – and maybe each other too.
With 40 episodes in the bag and an air of musical magic in every beat, Gu Yue Feng Hua Lu might just hit the right notes for fans of fantasy romance.
