Masai Mayuu, the sweet and cheeky “gravure queen” of the group’s 17th generation, is officially getting her first photobook! Titled “Tsukiatte Kudasai”, this little gem is all set to be released on 16 July 2025 under Futabasha.
At just 20 years old, Mayuu Masai is making waves – and this photobook?
It’s a huge milestone, not just for her, but for the entire 17ki generation.
She’s the first from her batch to get this honour, and that says a lot, especially in the post-pandemic AKB48 world where management’s picky about who gets such a project.
But here’s the thing: in the 48 Group universe, photobooks are not just handed out like sweets. Management usually watches fan reactions closely.
There’s a whole process behind the scenes – research, market checks, interest surveys – all to make sure there’s genuine hype.
So if Mayuu's getting one? That’s a proper nod to how much fans adore her.
The shoot took place on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture when Mayuu was still 19.
It’s packed with everything fans love – seaside swimsuits, youthful school uniforms, tearaway cycling moments at a fishing port, relaxing hot spring shots in yukata, and yes, a bit of local flair with Awaji’s famous onions!
And of course, what’s a gravure queen without a bit of spice?
Expect a few grown-up shots too – a dash of lingerie charm and even a leotard outfit, thanks to her background in rhythmic gymnastics.
No doubt, she’s got the poise to pull it off effortlessly.

There’s even a standout moment in an old-school twin-striped tracksuit, taken in a traditional tatami room – very Showa nostalgia vibes.
Whether it’s playful or poised, every page brings out a different side of her.
Mayuu herself couldn’t hide her excitement:
“This was a dream come true. Creating it with a team I love and being able to share this surprise present with fans – it’s just happiness all around! I wanted to show the raw and real me, full of 19-year-old innocence and moments that feel a bit nostalgic too.”
She also added,
“There’s a little bit of everything – cute, retro, mature, and even some quirky outfits. I really hope it becomes one of those photobooks people keep close and smile whenever they flip through it.”
This photobook’s not just about pretty pictures – it’s a proper coming-of-age story, told through lens and locations that capture the real Masai Mayuu. It’s rare, special, and filled with heart.
And with fans already buzzing, “Tsukiatte Kudasai” is shaping up to be a must-have collector’s item for any AKB48 enthusiast. Better mark your calendars!
