Actor Kimito Totani, known for his roles in Kamen Rider and Gokusen, shocked fans on April 26 with an announcement on his X (formerly Twitter).
The 34-year-old revealed that he had recently married Kurusu Rina and, alongside this exciting personal news, also shared that he would be retiring from the entertainment industry.
In his post, Totani Kimito expressed his happiness, saying, “I, Kimito Totani, have recently married Kurusu Rina. From now on, we will build a happy and supportive home together, and we hope you’ll continue to watch over us with warmth and care.”
He added that his decision to step away from acting had not been easy, but after careful consideration, he felt it was time to focus on a new career path and his family.
“I’ve decided to retire from showbiz. It’s been a long journey, and after 20 years in the industry, I want to move on to a different profession and dedicate myself to supporting my family,” he explained.
Totani, who first gained attention at 15, winning the Amuse Prince audition in 2005, has been a staple in Japanese drama and film.
His notable roles in Gokusen 3 and Kamen Rider Decade and Kamen Rider Zi-O have earned him a loyal following over the years.
Reflecting on his career, he thanked both his fans and colleagues, saying, “Thank you to the staff, my fellow actors, and all the fans who supported me over these 20 years. It’s been an unforgettable journey.”
Although Totani is leaving the spotlight, he reassured fans that he plans to continue interacting with them through social media and streaming, where he will share updates and more of his life with his supporters.
