The 20th Huabiao Film Awards wrapped up in Qingdao on April 27, and it was a night to remember for Zhang Yi and Kara Wai, who took home the top prizes for Best Actor and Best Actress.

Zhang Yi bagged the Best Actor award for his powerhouse role in Endless Journey, marking his second win at the prestigious event.

The 47-year-old star, known for his intense roles in everything from military dramas to crime thrillers, announced that he would take a break from acting to recharge.

With this win, he’s now just one award away from completing the Grand Slam of China's major film accolades – only the Feitian Award stands between him and the ultimate recognition.

On the actresses’ side, it was a historic moment for 65-year-old Kara Wai, who became the first Hong Kong actress to win the Outstanding Actress award at the Huabiao Film Awards for her emotional performance in Love Never Ends

Wang Yibo, who arrived late after a racing event, was a strong contender for Best Actor with his performance in One and Only, but ultimately didn’t take home the prize.

Still, the 27-year-old star has proven his talent with this nod, further cementing his position in the Chinese entertainment industry.

While the competition was fierce, Kara Wai and Zhang Yi were the stars of the night.

On the actresses’ side, Ma Li was also in the running for her role in Article 20, but Kara Wai’s performance clearly took the cake.

Kara Wai has been keeping busy with her promotional work for Love Never Ends while also focusing on new film projects.

She’s been a fixture at several film events, receiving admiration for her dedication to the industry.

Fans were excited to see her continue to make waves in her 60s, proving age is no barrier to excellence.

Apart from his acting career, Wang Yibo has been fiercely dedicated to his passion for motorsports.

His racing commitments have kept him on the road, but he also made time to attend major award events, like the Huabiao, where he was nominated.

In 2025, he’s been balancing his music career with acting, teasing new projects in both fields.

His role in One and Only and his recent nomination have sparked even more interest in his acting potential.
