OCHA NORMA’s Kanami Ishiguri has officially graduated from the group, effective immediately, due to ongoing health concerns.
The shocking announcement comes after months of limited activity, leaving fans heartbroken but understanding of her decision.
A Tough Decision After Battling Panic Disorder
Ishiguri, who was diagnosed with panic disorder last year, had been on a break since December due to health issues.
While her condition has improved, she admitted that she still struggles with daily tasks like walking alone, taking the train, and being in crowded spaces.
After deep reflection, she realised that returning to the idol stage was no longer an option.
“I can’t picture myself going back,” she shared in her farewell message. “I’ve spent this time thinking about my future, and I’ve decided that focusing on my health is the best choice for me.”
Grateful for 9 Years in Hello! Project
Kanami joined Hello! Project at just 11 years old, starting as a member of Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido.
Her journey spanned over nine years, culminating in her debut with OCHA NORMA in 2021.
Despite the abrupt farewell, she expressed immense gratitude for the support from fans, staff, and her fellow members.
“I’ve laughed, cried, and shared unforgettable moments with all of you,” she wrote. “Being part of OCHA NORMA was truly one of the greatest joys of my life.”
OCHA NORMA Moves Forward, But Kanami’s Presence Will Be Missed
With their spring tour kicking off on 23 March 2025, OCHA NORMA will push forward with renewed energy.
However, the group and fans alike will deeply feel Kanami’s absence.
“Although I couldn’t show you my idol self one last time, I’ll be cheering for OCHA NORMA as a fan,” she reassured. “Please stay happy and healthy.”
Kanami’s departure marks the end of an era, but her impact on Hello! Project remains unforgettable.
We wish her strength and happiness on her journey ahead!
