Tamio Okuda and Koji Kikkawa just pulled off a major surprise—forming a brand-new music unit called Ooochie Koochie!
And guess what?
Their first track, "GOLD," is out today, 26 February.
Both Okuda and Kikkawa are Hiroshima boys, born in 1965, and have been making waves in different music scenes.
But their paths never really crossed—until now.
Back in high school, they met at a tiny studio hidden inside a clothing shop in a shopping arcade, a popular hangout for Hiroshima’s young bands.
But their real bond only kicked off in recent years, thanks to shared festival gigs, drinks, and deep talks about their musical journeys.
That’s how Ooochie Koochie came to life.
The name itself, inspired by おちこち (Ochikochi), reflects their past, present, and future—a perfect symbol of their long-overdue collaboration.
Now, let’s talk about "GOLD"—this track is a total throwback to the disco-fueled late '70s.
The lyrics capture the feeling of being 20, standing at the edge of adulthood, and wondering "what if" they had stayed in Hiroshima instead of heading to Tokyo.
The whole song is soaked in nostalgia, offering a dreamy, sentimental vibe.
And there’s more—the music video for "GOLD" just dropped on YouTube, so you can experience the track in full.
Plus, they’ve set up an official X (Twitter) account (@OoochieKoochie) to keep fans updated.
A Hiroshima-born duo, a retro-inspired track, and a fresh start—Ooochie Koochie is officially here. Get ready for some gold!
