Fuji TV’s president, Kenji Shimizu, has dropped a bold statement amid company's scandal: even if sponsor companies don’t fully resume airing commercials, the network is pushing ahead with its programming plans for April.
“Production is continuing as usual, aiming for an April launch,” Shimizu shared with reporters.
“Whether the ads will come through or not remains uncertain.”
When asked if shows could proceed ad-free, he confidently replied, “The programming team has prepared for all possible scenarios.”
Shimizu also expressed deep gratitude towards some sponsors who have already resumed their commercials, saying, “In this situation, it’s genuinely touching.”
With an unpredictable ad climate, Fuji TV’s decision to charge forward with programming could shake up the industry.
It’s clear they’re betting big on their content to keep viewers glued, ads or not.
