2,600 Local Idol Groups Shine Across Japan"

Japan is witnessing a vibrant boom in local idol groups, according to a recent report from the Japan Local Idol Activity Association.

Over 2,600 groups are active across the nation, spanning all 46 prefectures outside Tokyo.

This surge highlights the growing popularity of local entertainment scenes.

Osaka prefecture leads the trend with more than 500 active idol groups, showcasing its dominance as a hub for cultural and musical activities.

Other regions are also seeing significant participation, contributing to a rich diversity of styles and performances.

These idols perform at various venues, including shopping malls, festivals, and live houses, reflecting strong community ties.

Fans flock to these events, supporting their local favourites and boosting regional economies.

The growth of these groups underscores the evolving nature of Japan’s idol culture, as smaller, community-based acts gain traction alongside national superstars.

This flourishing movement not only promotes regional pride but also offers a platform for emerging talents to shine.

Experts predict this trend will continue to thrive, reshaping the idol industry and its influence nationwide.
