The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Are Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry Still Married?

Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry are still together, despite the difficult period their marriage went through on Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The couple spent much of the later seasons confronting problems that had clearly been building for years, including time apart, couples therapy and difficult conversations about Mikayla’s past. But rather than becoming another reality-TV relationship that quietly disappears after a dramatic season, Mikayla and Jace remain married and are raising their four children together.

Their relationship has never been presented as completely effortless, although for much of the early series they looked like one of the more settled couples in the cast. Mikayla and Jace built their family young, welcoming their first child, Beckham, in July 2017 before marrying in 2018. Their family later grew with daughter Haven in 2019 and Tommie in 2021, giving viewers the impression of a busy but close-knit household.

That picture became more complicated as Mikayla began speaking more openly about difficult experiences from her younger years and the way those experiences had continued to affect her emotionally. By Season 3, she was discussing the impact with friends and in therapy, making it clear that some of the problems in her marriage were far deeper than an ordinary disagreement between two tired parents.

Things became particularly tense around the Stagecoach Festival, when plans for a romantic evening failed to go as expected. Jace became frustrated and raised the possibility of taking a break, but the pair did not simply walk away from the relationship. Instead, they continued attending couples therapy, even when working through their problems clearly proved uncomfortable.

By Season 4, Mikayla and Jace decided that spending some time apart could give them enough breathing room to understand what they actually wanted from their marriage. Mikayla moved into an Airbnb and lived independently for several months, creating a rather unusual chapter for a couple who had spent years building a family together.

It was not presented as the end of their marriage, however. In Season 5, Mikayla explained that the separation had ultimately helped her understand herself better and communicate her needs more clearly. She also suggested that the experience had benefited the relationship in the longer term. Sometimes, apparently, the answer to marital chaos is not another dramatic dinner conversation but temporarily getting your own front door.

Mikayla has also been candid about the fact that the relationship remains a work in progress. That description perhaps says more than any perfectly posed family photograph ever could. Their marriage is not being portrayed as magically fixed after a few therapy sessions, and there are still difficult subjects they have to navigate. The difference is that they appear to be facing those conversations together rather than pretending everything is fine.

There are also plenty of signs that Mikayla and Jace have continued building their life as a couple away from the more dramatic moments of the series. Jace continues to identify himself publicly as Mikayla’s husband and regularly shares appreciation for his wife, while Mikayla has continued talking about their relationship and the progress they have made.

Their family life has also provided some fairly convincing evidence that they remain very much part of one another’s lives. In April 2026, Mikayla and Jace travelled to Disneyland with their four children, followed by a family trip to Hawaii in May. They also travelled to Germany for Jace’s birthday, with Mikayla describing him as the best father and her “favourite person in the world”.

The couple’s story also changed considerably with the arrival of their fourth child, Lottie June. Mikayla and Jace are now parents to Beckham Jace, Haven Monroe, Tommie Grace and Lottie June, which means their household is presumably operating somewhere between family home and highly organised chaos.

Their social media presence reflects that shift. Rather than focusing entirely on the relationship difficulties explored on the show, the pair have continued sharing family moments, lifestyle content and plenty of ordinary chaos with their audience. Jace has also remained involved in filming their content, giving viewers another glimpse into their life away from the more carefully edited world of reality television.

Before welcoming their fourth child, the couple also took a babymoon to Los Cabos, Mexico, in June 2025. Their friends Mayci and Jacob Neeley joined them on the trip, creating a chance for both couples to enjoy some downtime before becoming parents again. Looking back, the timing probably made that peaceful getaway considerably more valuable once the newborn stage arrived.

Even their Halloween content has shown a lighter side of the marriage. Mikayla and Jace dressed up as Serena and Blair from Gossip Girl, turning the occasion into the sort of playful family moment that feels very different from the heavier conversations seen during the show’s more difficult episodes. Reality television may thrive on tension, but apparently someone still has to remember the Halloween costumes.

The bigger point is that Mikayla and Jace’s relationship has survived a genuinely complicated period without pretending that everything was perfect. They have dealt with personal history, emotional strain, young parenthood, public scrutiny and the pressure of discussing private marital problems in front of cameras. Their decision to spend time apart could easily have become the final chapter, yet they used that period to reassess their relationship and eventually move forward together.

There is also something refreshing about Mikayla describing their marriage as unfinished rather than presenting it as a neatly packaged success story. Long-term relationships rarely come with a convenient Season 5 finale where every problem is solved and everyone walks into the sunset.

With four children, a public platform and years of shared history, there will inevitably be more difficult conversations ahead. What matters from what they have shown publicly is that Mikayla and Jace are still choosing to work through those challenges as a couple.

My take is that Mikayla and Jace’s story is probably one of the more believable relationship arcs on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives precisely because it has not been wrapped up with a giant fictional bow. They had problems, tried therapy, lived apart for a while and apparently learned something from the experience. That is considerably messier than the usual reality-TV formula, but also far more recognisable. Their family photos do not prove that every disagreement has vanished, nor should they.

If anything, calling themselves a work in progress makes more sense than pretending four children, years of history and serious personal issues can be sorted out between commercial breaks. The fact that they are still travelling together, raising their children and publicly supporting each other suggests the marriage is continuing rather than simply surviving for the cameras. And honestly, with four kids, finding enough time to have a proper conversation probably deserves its own spin-off.

So, are Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry still together? Yes, they remain married, and their recent family life indicates that they are continuing to build their relationship while raising their four children. Their journey has hardly been straightforward, but it has also not ended with the separation shown during their more difficult period. They appear to have moved into a different stage of their marriage, one that still requires patience, communication and plenty of flexibility.

What do you make of Mikayla and Jace’s journey on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives? Does their decision to take time apart seem like what ultimately helped their marriage, or do you think the couple still has more issues to work through? Share your thoughts on whether Mikayla and Jace make it through the next chapter together.
