The romantic chemistry between Song Weilong and Zhang Jingyi has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding Chinese drama Love for You (野狗骨头), but it is one particular kissing scene that has truly captured viewers' attention. The emotional moment spread rapidly across social media after the episode aired, with countless fans praising its natural intensity. As it turns out, the scene that left audiences replaying the moment over and over was not filmed exactly as originally planned, with both stars revealing that a last-minute discussion on set completely changed how it unfolded.

During a recent interview, Song Weilong and Zhang Jingyi spoke warmly about working together and did not hold back when complimenting each other. Song Weilong described his co-star as "the most beautiful person," while Zhang Jingyi smiled and returned the compliment by calling him "the most handsome actor on set."

Safe to say, the compliments were flowing almost as smoothly as the drama's romance, although fans were probably grinning even more than the actors themselves.

The pair also opened up about the now-iconic argument that ends with an emotional kiss, revealing that the sequence evolved through conversations between them rather than simply following the script word for word. Zhang Jingyi explained that she felt the emotional tension needed more room to develop before the characters embraced.

"I suggested that their emotions should build more naturally first," Zhang Jingyi said. "It didn't feel believable if they suddenly kissed without a clear emotional trigger. We discussed it together on set and adjusted the performance."

That creative suggestion quickly received support from Song Weilong, who admitted his co-star brought plenty of thoughtful ideas to every scene. Rather than sticking rigidly to the original version, the actors worked together to reshape the moment until it felt more authentic.

"Zhang Jingyi has so many creative ideas," Song Weilong said. "Once she explained what she wanted to express, I understood it immediately. After talking it through, the whole scene became much more natural and emotional."

The collaborative approach appears to have paid off. Instead of feeling like another routine television kiss, the sequence became one of the defining moments of Love for You, with viewers praising the emotional build-up just as much as the romance itself.

Sometimes the best scenes arrive after a quick conversation rather than a perfectly polished shooting schedule. Directors probably love hearing that... eventually.

The interview also turned towards the story itself, with both actors reflecting on the scenes that affected them most emotionally. Zhang Jingyi admitted she felt particularly sorry for Chen Yi, the character portrayed by Song Weilong, especially during the storyline where he struggles to survive alone in a foreign country..

"I felt so heartbroken watching Chen Yi trying to survive overseas," Zhang Jingyi shared. "That was one of the saddest parts of the entire story for me."

For Song Weilong, however, the emotional centre of the drama has always been Miao Jing. He explained that no matter how difficult life became for Chen Yi, his character continued pushing forward because she remained his greatest source of hope.

"Throughout everything Chen Yi experiences, he is always thinking about Miao Jing," Song Weilong said. "She is the biggest reason he keeps going, even through all the hardship."

Both actors agreed that the childhood chapters shared by Chen Yi and Miao Jing remain the happiest period in the characters' lives. Despite growing up with very little, they found comfort simply by having each other.

That emotional foundation, they believe, explains why their connection feels so convincing later in the story, even after life becomes considerably more complicated.

Fans have responded with a wide range of reactions since the interview surfaced. Many applauded Zhang Jingyi's decision to speak up about improving the scene, saying the additional emotional tension made the kiss far more memorable than a straightforward romantic moment.

Others praised Song Weilong for embracing collaboration instead of insisting on the original version, arguing that their teamwork is exactly what gives Love for You its strongest emotional moments.

Meanwhile, countless viewers continue sharing clips of the sequence, joking that they have "accidentally" watched the same scene several times in the name of research. Nobody seems particularly convinced by that excuse.

Love for You continuing to generate discussion long after its biggest scenes aired, the chemistry between Song Weilong and Zhang Jingyi has become one of the drama's greatest strengths. Their willingness to exchange ideas behind the camera appears to have translated naturally onto the screen, proving that sometimes the smallest creative changes can produce the moments audiences remember most. Did the viral kiss live up to the hype for you, or was there another scene that deserved even more attention?
