According to Taiwanese media reports, Wang Po-Chieh was seen riding his e-bike from Neihu to the bustling Xinyi shopping district before making the return journey towards Nangang, covering roughly 12 kilometres.
During the ride, he was allegedly caught breaking several traffic regulations, prompting widespread discussion online and raising fresh questions about road safety and public responsibility.

The reported violations included using his mobile phone while riding, taking phone calls, travelling along pedestrian pavements, entering bus stop areas and weaving through passengers boarding and leaving public transport.
Witness accounts also claimed he rode in a zig-zag pattern, overtook other vehicles, failed to stop at certain red lights and repeatedly looked down at his phone instead of keeping his attention on the road.

Some reports further suggested his speed appeared to exceed the legal assistance limit for electrically assisted bicycles, although official findings on that point have not been publicly confirmed.
The latest controversy inevitably revived memories of Wang Po-Chieh's previous driving offence. In June 2024, he was involved in a collision with a coach near his home in Taipei while driving a vehicle belonging to his then-girlfriend, actress Hsieh Hsin-ying.

Authorities later confirmed his alcohol level exceeded the legal limit, resulting in his driving licence being suspended. Since then, the actor has reportedly relied on an electrically assisted bicycle for daily transport.
Ironically, the switch to an e-bike was expected to mark a fresh start, but the latest headlines suggest the road has remained rather bumpy.

Social media users joked that the vehicle may have changed, yet traffic regulations stubbornly refused to update themselves. Others remarked that even an expensive bicycle cannot come with a shortcut around common sense, a comment that quickly gained attention across online discussions.
Facing growing criticism, Wang Po-Chieh responded with a public apology, acknowledging his actions and accepting responsibility for the incident.

He admitted that a moment of carelessness had led to poor decisions and recognised that his behaviour could have created unnecessary risks for other road users.
"I am truly sorry. Because of a momentary lapse in judgement, I broke the traffic rules. It was a poor example to set and it could also have endangered the safety of other people using the road. I sincerely apologise," the actor said in his statement.
He also promised to become more disciplined in future and said he would strictly follow traffic regulations to ensure similar incidents do not happen again. The apology was widely shared by Taiwanese media shortly after the allegations emerged.
Some supporters appreciated that Wang Po-Chieh addressed the issue quickly instead of remaining silent, arguing that acknowledging mistakes is an important first step.
