Zhang Linghe Set to Battle Liu Yuning, Ding Yuxi, Xiao Zhan and Li Xian at the 33rd Golden Eagle Awards. Zhang Linghe is having the kind of awards season most Chinese actors spend an entire career chasing. The 28-year-old star has officially secured three drama nominations at the upcoming 33rd China TV Golden Eagle Awards through Pursuit of Jade, The Princess Royal, and Our Generation, instantly becoming the most nominated post-95 male actor on this year’s list. The achievement has thrown his name across Chinese social media all over again, with fans calling it proof that Zhang Linghe is no longer just one of C-drama’s most recognisable faces, but now one of its strongest rising leading men. From historical war epics to emotional youth dramas, his sudden domination of this year’s nominations has turned the Golden Eagle Awards race into another unexpected “Zhang Linghe discussion forum” online.

The nomination voting officially opened on 16 May, and Zhang Linghe immediately became the most nominated post-95 male actor on this year’s list. Chinese entertainment circles quickly exploded into discussion, partly because the achievement is genuinely rare, and partly because viewers are now realising the actor’s career has quietly shifted into a completely different league.

One year ago, debates around Zhang Linghe were still mostly focused on visuals and popularity rankings. This year, people are talking about “acting growth”, “drama-carrying ability”, and whether he is already entering serious leading-man territory earlier than expected.

What makes the triple nomination stand out even more is how different the dramas are from each other. Pursuit of Jade pushed Zhang Linghe into a heavier historical role through General Xie Zheng, a character filled with military tension, emotional restraint, and political pressure.

The series became one of the biggest online discussion magnets after release, while viewers praised Zhang Linghe for finally stepping away from overly polished idol-drama performances. Some fans joked that he “stopped serving face for five minutes and accidentally became respected”.

Meanwhile, The Princess Royal showed a calmer and more strategic side through Pei Wenxuan, a politically sharp figure whose quiet expressions often carried more tension than entire dialogue scenes.

Why Zhang Linghe Is Suddenly the Biggest Talking Point of the Golden Eagle Awards 2026

The drama also massively boosted his fanbase, especially among audiences who previously did not pay much attention to him. Social media comments frequently described his performance as “dangerously charming in a calculating way”, which honestly sounds exactly like the kind of compliment Chinese historical drama viewers love handing out.

Then came Our Generation, where Zhang Linghe switched completely into modern youth drama territory as top student Jiang Qiaoxi. Instead of intense palace politics and battlefield stares, audiences got a softer, emotionally fragile version of the actor.

Many viewers praised how natural he looked in quieter emotional scenes, with some saying the drama proved he could handle vulnerability without making the character feel exaggerated. In short, Zhang Linghe spent one awards season proving he can survive ancient warfare, political scheming, and teenage emotional damage all at once.

Zhang Linghe Trends Across China After Massive Golden Eagle Awards Achievement

Outside television, Zhang Linghe has also continued dominating fashion headlines. He recently attended GUCCI’s Cruise 2027 fashion show in New York for the third consecutive year, while becoming the only invited Chinese artist at the event this season.

His deep V black shirt and dark striped suit instantly triggered online reactions across Chinese platforms, where fans predictably lost all remaining ability to behave normally. Photos from the airport alone circulated like breaking national news. Chinese actors attending luxury fashion events is no longer unusual, but Zhang Linghe’s increasing visibility internationally is clearly adding another layer to his current momentum.

At the same time, his newly wrapped drama The Road to Glory (Gui Luan) with actress Lin Yun is already creating discussion despite only recently finishing production. Early preview clips showed Zhang Linghe playing Xiao Li, a man rising from ordinary street life to becoming a northern king figure.

The action-heavy scenes especially surprised viewers used to his cleaner romantic-drama image. Some fans even joked the series looked like “Pursuit of Jade 2.0”, particularly because of the intense framing and chemistry dynamics already spotted in teaser footage.

Zhang Linghe Earns Career-Defining Recognition After Three Back-to-Back Drama Successes

On top of all that, Zhang Linghe also confirmed his appearance in variety programme The Truth Season 4, where his long-running “academic genius” image is expected to become part of the show’s appeal.

His collaboration with Liu Yuning is already attracting curiosity online, with viewers saying the programme may accidentally become “a competition between tall men solving mysteries while looking expensive”.

This year’s Golden Eagle Awards race is nowhere near easy. Xiao Zhan remains one of the strongest contenders after Legend of Zang Hai secured a nomination following huge streaming popularity numbers.

Other major nominated productions include Flourished Peony starring Yang Zi and Li Xian, fantasy hit Love Game in Eastern Fantasy with Esther Yu and Ding Yuxi, as well as The Prisoner of Beauty featuring Song Zuer and Liu Yuning

The actress category is equally chaotic, with names like Yang Zi, Zhao Liying, and Liu Yifei all considered strong contenders. Calling this year’s competition intense might actually be an understatement. Chinese netizens are already describing the race as “immortal-level combat”, which sounds dramatic, but honestly feels accurate.

Fans celebrated Zhang Linghe’s nominations as proof that his transition into a more serious actor is finally being recognised by the industry. Some viewers admitted they underestimated him previously, while others said his recent dramas proved he is no longer relying purely on visuals to attract audiences. Of course, not everyone agrees.

The bigger conversation surrounding this year’s Golden Eagle Awards also reflects how much China’s television industry has changed. Popularity alone no longer guarantees respectability, but pure acting skill without audience pull is also becoming less valuable commercially. Platforms want stars who can deliver ratings, online discussion, fan engagement, and critical credibility at the same time. In many ways, Zhang Linghe’s triple nomination suddenly makes him the perfect example of that balancing act.

Fans already think this could be Zhang Linghe’s defining awards season, while everyone else is simply grabbing popcorn and preparing for the chaos ahead.
