The moment Tony Jaa was spotted quietly filming Zhao Lusi from the audience at Bangkok’s IMPACT Arena, social media immediately lost its remaining sense of calm. The internationally recognised Thai action star, famous for breaking bones on-screen with alarming commitment, suddenly became one of the most talked-about guests at Zhao Lusi’s “Stay Romantic” concert on May 9, 2026. And honestly, nobody expected martial arts legend Tony Jaa to spend his Friday night recording emotional Mandarin pop songs on a phone like every other fan in Row F.

The concert quickly transformed from a regular overseas performance into what looked suspiciously like a Thai entertainment industry gathering. Alongside Tony Jaa, several major Thai celebrities were reportedly in attendance, including Baifern Pimchanok, Off Jumpol, Mai Davika, Ter Chantavit, and other well-known figures from Thailand’s film and television scene.

Veteran actress Nune Woranuch also sent flower arrangements in support, adding another layer of celebrity attention around the event.

For many Chinese fans online, the turnout from Thailand’s entertainment industry became one of the biggest talking points of the night. It was not simply about a successful concert anymore.

The atmosphere felt more like proof that Zhao Lusi’s popularity in Southeast Asia has entered a completely different level. Thailand especially has become one of her strongest overseas fanbases, with her dramas consistently trending across local social media platforms and streaming charts.

Inside IMPACT Arena, the scale of the event itself was impossible to ignore.

The 12,000-seat venue was completely packed, glowing purple from thousands of official fandom light sticks.

The arena, previously used by names such as BLACKPINK and Jay Chou, looked less like a concert hall and more like a giant violet galaxy with occasional screaming.

No empty seats were visible, which probably also explained why ticketing websites emotionally collapsed the moment sales opened.

Tickets ranged from 488 yuan to 1,940 yuan, and demand exploded almost immediately after the announcement on March 31. Reservations reportedly surpassed 10,000 within a short period, while official ticket sales on April 7 sold out rapidly across every category.

Zhao Lusi also officially became the first post-95 Chinese actress to hold a large-scale solo concert at the arena, a detail fans repeated online roughly every seven seconds throughout the night.

One of the most discussed moments came during Zhao Lusi’s opening appearance. She stepped onto the stage wearing a pink velvet top, oversized jacket and loose patchwork jeans, creating instant online debate.

Zhao Lusi Impresses Thai Fans With Live Vocals, Thai Song and Cultural Performances

Some fans praised the styling for pushing her image into something bolder and more mature, while others admitted they genuinely needed several seconds to recognise her. A few netizens joked that the wardrobe styling looked like “romantic chaos sponsored by expensive denim,” though even critics admitted she carried the look confidently.

The concert itself leaned heavily into live performance and theatrical production rather than simple fan service. Zhao Lusi performed fully live for around three and a half hours without relying on lip-syncing, despite previously taking a break from activities due to health concerns.

Reports claimed she practised for more than eight hours daily before the event, which many fans later pointed to while defending her online whenever criticism appeared.

Her Thai-language performance especially became one of the emotional highlights of the evening. Zhao Lusi sang the Thai classic “เจอกับตัวเอง…ถึงรู้” by Sara Nussara Pungprasert, wearing a sparkling silver Dai-inspired traditional skirt while carefully delivering the lyrics she had reportedly studied for months.

Thai fans inside the venue responded loudly, with many visibly surprised by her pronunciation and effort. Some viewers online jokingly said Zhao Lusi had already “unofficially applied for Thai citizenship through emotional damage and fan service.”

Another segment that drew enormous attention was the Sichuan face-changing performance, or bian lian, which introduced a dramatic shift in atmosphere. Performers wearing rapidly changing opera masks filled the stage with red, gold and blue colours while fire-breathing acts stunned the audience.

For many Thai attendees, it became one of the most memorable moments of the night, particularly because traditional Chinese performance art is rarely integrated into modern commercial concerts on this scale.

The production itself carried the theme “Thorn Rose,” designed by a Grammy-winning creative team. During “I Hope You Find God,” paper butterflies reportedly rained from the ceiling, while “Champagne Drop” transformed the arena into a gold-lit luxury party scene filled with laser effects.

The concert constantly shifted between emotional ballad stages and full theatrical spectacle, sometimes so dramatically that fans online joked Zhao Lusi managed to fit three separate world tours into one evening.

Unlike some recent Asian concerts built around surprise guest appearances, Zhao Lusi chose to perform entirely alone without bringing celebrity collaborators onstage.

That decision unexpectedly impressed many viewers, especially as the performance relied heavily on her own vocals, stage presence and storytelling rather than viral gimmicks. Though ironically, the audience itself already looked like a celebrity guest list anyway.

During the encore, emotions inside the arena became noticeably heavier as Zhao Lusi stood facing the massive purple ocean created by fans.

One lyric from the encore song, “The rose does not panic,” immediately sparked theories online that it referenced the rose symbol connected to her personal studio and career journey.

As rose-shaped ribbons printed with fan IDs slowly floated down from the ceiling, many audience members carefully collected them like priceless historical artefacts rather than decorative paper.

Reactions after the concert were overwhelmingly loud, though naturally not completely unanimous because the internet physically cannot survive without arguing. Many praised Zhao Lusi’s live vocals, ambition and cultural effort, while others debated her styling choices and experimental stage direction. Thai netizens especially celebrated the event’s atmosphere, with several viral comments calling her one of the most beloved Chinese actresses currently active in Thailand.
