By Your Side (น้อง Sideline) is already shaping up to be one of the Thai GL titles fans won’t stop talking about in 2026, and honestly, the excitement makes sense. The pilot dropped, social feeds instantly went into meltdown mode, and now viewers are already acting like the series has emotionally destroyed them before Episode 1 has even aired.
That’s probably a good sign for a romance drama. Starring fan-favourite pairing Shelly Phetsai Chanrueang and Aom Pundao Panyabaramee, the upcoming series promises a heavier, more emotionally layered story compared to the fluffy university romances currently flooding the market.
Adapted from the novel By Your Side... #น้องSideline by Ma-Bung (มะบุง), the drama follows the complicated relationship between Zhao Jun, a university student secretly carrying emotional scars and a hidden double life, and Namnueng, a professor quietly dealing with her own loneliness beneath a calm and composed image.
From the pilot alone, it’s obvious this is not aiming to be another “cute misunderstanding every episode” type of series. There’s longing, tension, emotional messiness, and enough eye contact to make viewers pause the screen every few minutes just to recover.

The series is being produced by Motion Minds Entertainment, the same studio behind Roller Coaster, which first introduced fans to the now well-known pairing nicknamed ShellyPundao.
Their return together has become one of the biggest talking points among Thai GL viewers online, especially because many fans felt the duo deserved a larger and more emotionally mature project after gaining attention through their previous work.
What immediately stands out in By Your Side is the atmosphere. The pilot leans more cinematic than expected, with softer lighting, emotionally tense scenes, and dialogue that feels more natural instead of overly dramatic.
The chemistry between Shelly and Pundao also feels noticeably more confident this time around. Fans watching behind-the-scenes clips have already pointed out how comfortable the two actresses appear together off-camera, which honestly explains why the emotional scenes in the pilot hit harder than people expected.
There’s also a refreshing balance in tone. Yes, the drama explores loneliness, emotional abandonment and complicated relationships, but it still throws in lighter moments and awkward humour that stop things from becoming emotionally exhausting.
Some viewers online joked that the series looks like it will “heal them emotionally and then ruin them again five minutes later,” which, judging from the pilot, might actually be accurate.

As for the release date, Motion Minds Entertainment has not confirmed an official premiere yet. However, fans are currently expecting By Your Side to arrive sometime between Q3 and Q4 of 2026 if filming begins within the next few months as expected.
The production team appears to still be in the early promotional stage, which explains why only the pilot and initial promotional content have been released so far.
International viewers will also be relieved to know the series is expected to stream with English subtitles on YouTube, following the growing trend of Thai GL productions becoming more accessible worldwide.
While the full broadcast platforms have not been officially announced yet, many fans expect YouTube to remain the main international platform due to the global popularity of Thai GL content. Additional streaming services could still be revealed closer to release, especially if the pilot continues gaining strong engagement online.
And honestly, the international hype is already there. Fans from Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Brazil and even Europe have been flooding comment sections discussing the pairing’s chemistry, the more mature storytelling, and the emotional tension shown in the pilot.
Some viewers are already predicting this could become a sleeper hit within the GL community, while others are cautiously preparing themselves for “weekly emotional damage” once the series finally premieres.
The growing attention around By Your Side also says a lot about how the Thai GL industry is changing. Smaller independent studios are no longer just making low-budget campus romances and hoping clips go viral online.
More productions are starting to explore emotionally complicated stories with older characters, layered relationships and stronger cinematic direction. Audiences clearly want more than simple sweetness now. They want stories that hurt a little too. Preferably while staring dramatically through rain-covered windows.
For now, fans can already watch the official pilot released by Motion Minds Entertainment while waiting for further updates on filming, streaming platforms and the official release schedule.
And judging from the reaction online, people are more than ready to clear their schedules for this one. The real question is whether viewers are emotionally prepared for whatever Zhao Jun and Namnueng are about to put everyone through.
