Japanese idol group NANONI (ナノニ) will disband on 22 May 2026 following a final concert in Tokyo, closing a five-year run that saw the six-member act carve out a niche with its genre-blending sound.

The announcement, confirmed by their agency Office Bit, also revealed that all members will depart the company upon contract completion, marking a full reset rather than a partial hiatus.

Formed in early 2021 and debuting that April, NANONI built its identity on a crossover of rock, punk and hip-hop influences, setting them apart in a crowded idol landscape.

The current line-up — Mizusino Rizumu, Ikinari Mippo, Nana Nakkuru, Satsuki Ayame, Nau Rialu, and Inori Ema — reflects multiple additions over the years, with the group evolving notably between 2023 and 2024 as new members joined.

The timing of the disbandment has struck fans in particular, arriving just a month after the group’s planned fifth anniversary one-man live titled “決意”, scheduled for 24 April.

What was meant to be a celebratory milestone now carries added weight as part of a brief farewell run leading into the final May performance.

In statements shared across official channels and personal social media, the tone from members has been consistent: gratitude, shock, and an open-ended future.

Founding member Mizusino Rizumu thanked supporters for sustaining the group through its full lifespan, while Ikinari Mippo offered a more personal reflection, admitting she never imagined the day of such an announcement would come.

She described her four-year journey as transformative, both as an idol and as an individual, crediting fans’ energy at live shows as the driving force behind her growth.

Mippo’s message also hinted at unfinished ambitions. While acknowledging uncertainty ahead, she expressed a clear desire to remain on stage in some form, underscoring how deeply performance has shaped her identity.

Her closing words — thanking fans for discovering and supporting her — have quickly circulated among the fandom as a defining farewell sentiment.

The agency’s official statement stressed that all six members will leave upon contract expiry, and requested privacy around their next steps.

It also confirmed that the final concert on 22 May will serve as the group’s last activity, with both members and staff aiming to deliver what they describe as five years’ worth of gratitude in one closing performance.

Long-time supporters have described the news as abrupt, with many pointing out the contrast between anniversary promotions and a sudden end date.

Others have taken a more reflective stance, praising NANONI’s distinct musical direction and the members’ visible development over time.

Some netizens have also begun speculating about potential re-debuts, solo careers or even future reunions, though no such plans have been confirmed.

There is also a broader conversation unfolding among fans about the lifecycle of modern idol groups, with NANONI’s trajectory — rapid formation, evolving line-up, and relatively short lifespan — seen as increasingly typical of the current scene.

For some, the group’s decision to conclude cleanly, with all members exiting together, has been interpreted as a deliberate and respectful closing chapter rather than a drawn-out fade.

The final stretch now belongs as much to the audience as it does to the performers.
