The engines are officially roaring again. Pegasus 3 (飞驰人生3) has unveiled its latest trailer titled Unfold the Road, and within hours, it sent Lunar New Year movie hype straight into top gear. Packed with high-speed ambition, chaotic teamwork, and that familiar laugh-through-the-pressure energy, the third instalment makes it clear this isn’t just a comeback — it’s a full-throttle upgrade.

Shen Teng reprises his iconic role as Zhang Chi, also known as the legendary “King of Bayinbuluke”. After years away from the spotlight, Zhang Chi finally returns to the track — but not just any track. The new trailer reveals his invitation to compete in the Mu Chen 100, an intercontinental rally widely teased as the toughest race of them all.

From sand-covered deserts to muddy terrain, shifting weather that jumps from snowstorms to violent winds, and relentless mental pressure, the Mu Chen 100 is framed as a brutal test of endurance rather than pure speed. The message is clear: surviving this race requires experience, grit, and the courage to keep going when everything says stop.

Zhang Chi isn’t facing this challenge alone. The trailer confirms the return of familiar teammates Sun Yuqiang and Ji Xing, alongside new Chinese team members including Lin Zhendong, Li Xiaohai, and Liu Shihao. Together, they form a line-up that blends raw speed with stubborn belief.

True to Pegasus tradition, the teamwork doesn’t come together smoothly. One standout moment in the trailer shows the group attempting a motivational chant — only for it to descend into hilarious confusion thanks to mismatched timing and voices. It’s a reminder that while the stakes are higher than ever, the series hasn’t lost its heart or humour.

Alongside the trailer, Pegasus 3 also dropped a new ensemble poster titled Ma Dao Cheng Gong. Featuring the full cast flashing “OK” hand gestures, the poster marks the official return of the franchise with an upbeat, celebratory tone.

Shen Teng is seen opening a banner wishing success, reinforcing the film’s unmistakable Lunar New Year atmosphere — warm, hopeful, and built for family audiences in the Year of the Horse.

Written and directed by Han Han, Pegasus 3 continues the series’ signature mix of adrenaline-fuelled racing and grounded comedy. While the visuals promise larger-scale competition and international ambition, the story remains rooted in friendship, second chances, and the courage to restart when the road ahead looks uncertain.

Why Pegasus 3 Is Shaping Up to Be the Biggest Chinese Racing Film of Lunar New Year 2026

The cast lineup is one of the strongest yet, featuring Shen Teng, Yin Zheng, Jonny Huang, Zhang Benyu, Wei Xiang, Sha Yi, Fan Chengcheng, Sun Yizhou, and Deric Wan in a special role, alongside a long list of surprise and guest appearances that have already sparked online discussion.

Pegasus 3 is scheduled to hit cinemas on 17 February 2026, the first day of Chinese New Year. It enters a competitive holiday slate that includes titles across comedy, wuxia, spy thrillers, and animation. Even so, early data shows Pegasus 3 leading anticipation rankings, with strong pre-release interest and a proven franchise track record.

The first two Pegasus films delivered major box office success during previous Lunar New Year seasons, earning over 50 billion yuan combined, giving the third film a solid audience base before it even reaches the starting line.

Audiences can expect bigger races, higher emotional stakes, and a story that balances laughter with reflective moments. While the Mu Chen 100 rally brings global-scale competition, the film’s real tension appears to lie beyond the track — where shifting alliances, external pressures, and personal doubts threaten the team’s momentum.

Rather than focusing solely on winning, Pegasus 3 leans into the idea of endurance: staying in the race when success isn’t guaranteed.

For viewers outside China, Pegasus 3 is expected to follow the franchise’s usual international release pattern. After its theatrical run, the film is likely to become available on major Chinese streaming platforms that offer English subtitles for overseas audiences.

Official announcements regarding international streaming and subtitle availability are expected closer to the release window.

Online reactions to the new trailer have been largely enthusiastic. Long-time fans are excited to see Shen Teng back in racing mode, while newer viewers are drawn in by the upgraded scale and international competition angle.

Some netizens are already calling it the “most complete Pegasus film yet”, while others are cautiously optimistic, hoping the third entry can balance spectacle without losing the emotional core that made the earlier films work.

A few discussions also centre on whether Pegasus 3 can surpass the second film’s massive box office success — a tall order, but not an impossible one given the current buzz.

Do you think Zhang Chi’s next race will top his legendary past, or is the real victory simply finishing the journey?
