Hunan TV has officially stepped in to clear the air after online chatter claimed the broadcaster would air a live broadcast of the Korean Dream Concert scheduled to take place in Hong Kong in early 2026.

In a statement shared via its official social media account on 24 December, Hunan TV firmly denied the rumour, calling it completely inaccurate and without any reliable source.

According to the network, the circulating claims were made up online and should not be taken as factual.

The clarification comes after several social media accounts suggested that Hunan TV was preparing to fully broadcast the Dream Concert, sparking excitement among K-pop fans and television viewers alike.

Hunan TV Responds as Dream Concert Broadcast Speculation Spreads

That enthusiasm spread quickly before the broadcaster stepped in with a direct denial.

Where the Confusion Started

The buzz didn’t appear out of nowhere.

Earlier reports confirmed that the long-running Korean Dream Concert will be held for the first time in Hong Kong in February 2026, a move already seen as a major milestone for the event.

Adding fuel to the speculation, industry chatter hinted at a possible Chinese broadcast via Hunan TV, which would be a rare case of a Chinese satellite channel airing a large-scale Korean pop concert.

For many observers, this was interpreted as a potential signal of easing cultural restrictions — a reading that Hunan TV has now firmly pushed back on.

Hunan TV Shuts Down Viral Claims Over Dream Concert Live Broadcast in Hong Kong

Previously, the appearance of the EXO sub-unit CBX was reported, marking a high-profile return to the Dream Concert stage after their recent career developments. Their participation alone has been enough to drive fan anticipation, even without a full artist lineup revealed yet.

The concert itself is set to run across two days in Hong Kong, organised by Korean and Chinese partners, with production handled by a local events company. However, organisers have not announced any confirmed broadcast schedule, whether live or delayed, for mainland China.

Later reports suggested the possibility of a delayed recording airing on Chinese television, but no specific date or format has been locked in.

This distinction is key, as Hunan TV’s clarification specifically addresses claims of a live broadcast — not future programming discussions.

Hunan TV Denies Live Broadcast Plans for Dream Concert 2026

Interestingly, the original rumour had a noticeable ripple effect beyond fan circles. Korean entertainment stocks, which had been under pressure due to rising costs and softer merchandise sales, saw renewed interest following talk of a China-facing broadcast.

Analysts note that even the possibility of expanded access to Chinese audiences has become a major talking point, with many now viewing 2026 as a potential turning point for the wider entertainment industry.

Still, experts caution that market optimism has run ahead of confirmed policy changes.

Official Responses Remain Careful

When asked about the broader situation, Chinese officials stated they were not aware of the reported broadcast arrangements, offering no further comment on future cultural exchange plans.

Hunan TV Shuts Down Viral Claims Over Dream Concert Airing

This cautious tone mirrors Hunan TV’s own approach — drawing a clear line between verified information and online speculation.

For now, one thing is clear: there is no confirmed live broadcast of the Dream Concert on Hunan TV. While the Hong Kong event itself is locked in and artist announcements are underway, broadcast details remain unresolved.

Fans can expect more official updates from organisers in the coming months — but until then, Hunan TV has made it clear that viral claims should be taken with a healthy pinch of salt.
