The sun-soaked beaches in The Paradise Murders may look like the perfect holiday destination, but they hide far more than postcard views. The 2026 mystery thriller transforms Bulgaria's Black Sea coast into the backdrop for a suspense-filled getaway where luxury, secrets and unexpected twists collide. While several filming locations have been identified, some production sites were deliberately kept private during filming to protect the cast and crew from disruptions, meaning not every exact spot used on screen has been publicly disclosed.

That has not stopped fans from trying to piece everything together. Across film forums and social media, viewers have been comparing hotel architecture, beachfront scenery and surrounding landscapes to work out where particular scenes were shot.

Some are convinced they have identified every corner of the fictional resort, while others simply want to book the same seaside escape—hopefully without stumbling into a fictional murder investigation.

The main production hub for The Paradise Murders was Varna, Bulgaria's famous Black Sea resort city. Principal photography reportedly began around the middle of February 2025 under the working title Murder in Paradise before wrapping in early March.

The city's combination of elegant seaside promenades, sandy beaches, modern hotels and historic streets gave director Richard Switzer plenty of visual variety without needing to leave the region.

Varna has long been one of Bulgaria's favourite holiday destinations thanks to its lively waterfront, impressive Sea Garden park, Roman archaeological remains and vibrant café culture.

On screen, those relaxed surroundings become surprisingly unsettling once the mystery begins. It is proof that even the nicest beach can suddenly feel suspicious when everyone starts acting just a little too friendly.

A large portion of filming also moved north to Albena, another popular Black Sea resort around 20 miles from Varna. Known for its wide sandy coastline, family-friendly atmosphere and luxury accommodation, Albena provided the polished resort aesthetic needed for the fictional world of Crescendo Hotel and Spa.

The calm beaches and crystal-clear sea create a striking contrast with the increasingly tense investigation unfolding throughout the film. One minute viewers are admiring holiday scenery, the next they are questioning absolutely everyone. Holidays really do become expensive when trust completely disappears.

One of the most recognisable filming venues is the elegant Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena. The beachfront property reportedly hosted several scenes thanks to its contemporary architecture, spacious interiors and panoramic sea views. Its sophisticated design fits perfectly with the luxurious atmosphere presented throughout the story.

Guests visiting today can enjoy many of the same stylish surroundings seen on screen, although thankfully their stay is far more likely to involve swimming pools and spa treatments than detectives asking uncomfortable questions over breakfast.

Another location featured during production is Flamingo Grand Hotel & Spa, located only a short walk from Paradise Blue. The upscale resort offers modern suites, landscaped gardens, wellness facilities and easy beach access, making it another fitting backdrop for scenes centred on wealthy holidaymakers enjoying an apparently peaceful escape.

Its refined appearance helps sell the illusion of the fictional luxury resort while reinforcing one of the film's biggest ideas—that appearances can be wonderfully misleading.

Close to both Varna and Albena, Golden Sands also complements the film's coastal setting with its famous beaches, luxury resorts and dramatic sea views. The surrounding area has become increasingly popular with international productions because it offers picturesque scenery alongside modern hospitality infrastructure, making it an ideal companion location within the Black Sea region.

Visitors exploring the area can easily combine Golden Sands with Varna and Albena in the same trip, turning a film-inspired holiday into a full coastal adventure.

Despite looking remarkably convincing, Crescendo Hotel and Spa is a fictional creation developed specifically for The Paradise Murders by writers Amy Irons, Jesse Mittelstadt and Richard Switzer

Rather than basing the story around one existing luxury resort, the filmmakers crafted a fictional destination that allowed complete creative freedom while maintaining a believable atmosphere.

Several real hotels and coastal settings contribute to Crescendo's appearance on screen, blending together to create a seamless luxury resort where every hallway, restaurant and ocean view appears connected. That careful production design helps viewers forget they are watching a fictional location altogether.

The charming Miranda's restaurant is also fictional. Although it feels like an established local favourite with decades of history, it was created solely for the film to deepen Emma's emotional connection with the resort.

The restaurant becomes far more than somewhere to enjoy dinner, serving as an important location where memories, friendships and crucial discoveries gradually reshape the investigation.

Detailed production design, personalised branding and convincing interiors all help Miranda's feel authentic enough that many viewers have searched online hoping to reserve a table that sadly does not exist.

From the elegant streets of Varna to the luxury resorts of Albena, the beautiful Black Sea coastline gives The Paradise Murders its unforgettable atmosphere. The scenery constantly tempts viewers into believing they are watching the perfect holiday destination before cleverly reminding them that paradise can hide its own secrets. If more verified filming locations are officially revealed in the future, they will only make this cinematic trail even more appealing for fans planning a visit.

So, would you pack your bags and explore these stunning Bulgarian filming locations, or would you think twice after everything that happened at Crescendo Hotel and Spa?
