Bedaine is officially getting another chapter, and that means Léo "The Sparrow" Surette has not folded away his oversized wings just yet. Following the warm reception to the first season, ICI Télé has renewed the Acadian superhero dark comedy for Season 2, with production scheduled to begin in September across Bouctouche and Sackville, New Brunswick. Creator and star Ryan Doucette is returning to write the new episodes, while Christian Essiambre is once again taking the director's chair. That continuity behind the camera should help preserve the quirky balance of heartfelt drama, offbeat humour and small-town superhero chaos that made the first outing stand apart from the usual caped adventures.

The renewal arrives after the first season wrapped up its eight-episode run with Bedaine finally rediscovering the courage that had disappeared along with his confidence. Rather than ending with another spectacular sky battle, the series reminded viewers that sometimes the hardest fight is convincing yourself to get back up after life has repeatedly knocked you down.

Flying helps too, admittedly, but emotional recovery does most of the heavy lifting here. Bedaine Season 2 is expected to push the story beyond Léo's personal redemption and into a much larger battle for the future of Sainte-Lucie-des-Lueurs

With the former superhero accepting his role as the village's unlikely protector once more, the next chapter will likely ask whether he can actually live up to that responsibility every single day. Saving a town once is impressive. Doing it repeatedly while everyone remembers your less-than-glorious past is another challenge entirely.

One of the biggest storylines expected to continue revolves around Léo's powers. Throughout the first season, viewers watched him struggle to reconnect with the abilities that once made him a local legend.

Bedaine Season 2 should explore whether he has truly regained the confidence and physical strength needed to fly consistently or whether every take-off still comes with the possibility of an embarrassing landing. Superhero training rarely includes lessons on recovering your dignity.

Although Dr. Évelyne's original scheme was disrupted, the wider corporate ambitions behind her genetically modified cannabis project may be far from over.

Bedaine Season 2 is expected to expand this conflict into a broader confrontation, with larger forces threatening the quiet community. Rather than facing one manipulative scientist alone, Bedaine may find himself standing against an organised operation with considerably more resources and considerably fewer good intentions.

The rivalry between Bedaine and Super Merveilleux could also become one of the season's strongest storylines. During Season 1, Super Merveilleux served as a painful reminder of everything Léo believed he had lost.

Now that Léo is rebuilding his confidence, their relationship may evolve into a direct competition, with pride, public recognition and old grudges colliding. Because apparently saving the world is easier than managing workplace jealousy between superheroes.

Another emotional thread likely to shape the new season comes from the destruction of Léo's trailer home. Losing his last place of comfort stripped away much of the isolation he had hidden behind, forcing him to rely on the very neighbours he spent years avoiding.

Bedaine Season 2 could continue exploring how those unlikely friendships become his greatest strength, proving once again that heroes are often built through community rather than costumes.

Fans should also expect Rolanda to take on an even more important role. Her unwavering belief in Léo, despite his endless self-doubt, became one of the emotional foundations of the series.

Whether offering encouragement, questionable advice or accidental comic relief, she consistently helped move the story forward. Their partnership may become even stronger as new threats emerge around the village.

Most of the principal cast are expected to return, including Ryan Doucette as The Sparrow, Florence Brunet as Rolanda, Luc LeBlanc as Mayor Adrien, Diane Losier as Victoria, Kevin Doyle as Bruce, Marc Lamontagne as Guillaume, Thomas Beaudoin as Super Merveilleux, and Sofia Blondin as Dr. Évelyne

Whether every character returns exactly as viewers remember them remains to be seen, especially in a series where redemption and unexpected twists often arrive hand in hand.

As for a release date, ICI Télé has yet to announce when Bedaine Season 2 will premiere. With filming expected to begin in September, the production schedule points towards a likely release sometime in late 2026 or early 2027, depending on post-production and the broadcaster's programming plans.

Until an official announcement arrives, those dates remain informed expectations rather than confirmed plans. Across fan communities, reactions to the renewal have been overwhelmingly positive, although opinions differ on where the story should go next.

Many viewers are hoping the second season leans further into the emotional journey that made Léo such a relatable protagonist, while others want even bigger superhero action and stranger comedy.

Some are already predicting that Super Merveilleux will become a full-scale rival, while others believe the real danger will come from an entirely new antagonist connected to the corporate conspiracy. There is also no shortage of viewers campaigning for Rolanda to receive even more screen time after becoming one of the breakout favourites of the first season.

With its unusual mix of dark comedy, heartfelt character drama and unconventional superhero storytelling, Bedaine has carved out a distinctive identity that feels refreshingly different from bigger franchise productions.

Bedaine Season 2 now has the opportunity to expand that world while keeping its focus on flawed people trying to do the right thing, even when everything around them seems determined to make life unnecessarily complicated. What are you hoping to see in the next chapter? Do you want a completely new villain, more of Super Merveilleux, or a bigger spotlight on the residents of Sainte-Lucie-des-Lueurs?
