Thailand's television industry gathered for one of its biggest celebrations of the year as the 40th Thailand TV Gold Awards 2026 honoured the actors, creators and programmes that shaped the country's small screen over the past year. Held under the theme "40 Years of Television Honor," the milestone ceremony celebrated four decades of recognising excellence across drama, entertainment, news, culture and creative media. By the end of the evening, one drama had clearly stolen the spotlight, while several familiar stars walked away with career-defining victories that quickly became the talk of fans online.

Organised by the TV Promotion Association alongside the Chamlong Rangsikul Foundation, Thailand's Ministry of Culture, the Department of Cultural Promotion, and the Creative Media Fund, the annual awards once again highlighted productions that balanced quality storytelling with cultural value.

There were emotional speeches, plenty of applause and, naturally, the occasional surprised face from winners who clearly hadn't prepared a speech beyond "thank you". Thankfully, those moments usually make the best television anyway.

One of the evening's most touching moments came during the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Awards, recognising five legendary figures whose influence has helped shape Thailand's television industry for decades.

Saithip Montrikun Na Ayudhaya, Nok Chatchai Plengpanich, Kobsuk Charuchinda, Sayom Sungvaributr, and Nok Sinjai Plengpanich were honoured for their lasting contributions to Thai entertainment. The audience responded with lengthy standing ovations, celebrating careers that continue to inspire both established performers and the next generation of television talent.

Accepting the honour, Nok Chatchai Plengpanich reflected on the industry's remarkable journey. "Television has changed enormously over the years, but great stories and passionate people never go out of style. I'm grateful to have been part of that journey."

Fellow recipient Nok Sinjai Plengpanich added that receiving the recognition after decades of work felt deeply meaningful. "This award belongs to everyone I've worked with throughout my career. Television has always been a team effort."

Across the programme categories, a wide range of productions were recognised for their creativity and public impact. Thai Sin on Thai PBS claimed Best Arts and Culture Programme, while Morlam Universe Battle from Workpoint TV 23 earned Best Cultural Heritage Programme for bringing traditional performances to modern audiences.

WIN WIN WAR THAILAND Season 7 on Amarin TV HD 34 received Best Safe and Creative Media Innovation Programme, reflecting its continued popularity among viewers.

Youth-focused storytelling also enjoyed a successful evening as The Bone secured Best Youth Programme, while 3 Miti News on Channel 3HD took home Best News Programme after another strong year of reporting.

In sport, Authentic Muaythai on PPTV HD 36 was recognised as Best Sports Programme, celebrating Thailand's national sport with high-quality production and coverage.

Entertainment categories remained fiercely competitive. Veteran presenter Wiwat Wongphatthathiti won Best Host for SUPER 10, continuing his reputation as one of Thai television's most reliable personalities.

Panya Pan Suk was named Best Game Show, while Home Craftsman collected the prize for Best Variety Programme, proving audiences still appreciate programmes that combine creativity with everyday inspiration instead of endless celebrity shouting contests.

Special Television Honour Awards also highlighted programmes making meaningful contributions beyond traditional entertainment.

Krajokhokdan, Puan Koo Kit, Johjai The Inspiration, Tungsangtawan, and Khun Pra Chuay were recognised for their influence and long-standing value within Thailand's broadcasting landscape, reinforcing the ceremony's commitment to celebrating programmes with lasting cultural significance.

The drama categories delivered some of the night's biggest headlines. Retired, not Expired from MCOT HD 30 received Best Social Drama, while Khemjira The Series on One31 won Best Art Direction, rewarding its detailed production design and visual presentation.

Fans of the supernatural drama quickly celebrated the victory online, with many arguing its distinctive atmosphere had deserved recognition throughout awards season.

Screenwriter Salaya Sukanivatt earned Best Screenplay for The Ideal City, while King Somching Srisupap collected Best Director for Captive Heart, a series praised for its polished storytelling and confident direction.

During his acceptance speech, King Somching Srisupap thanked his cast and production team, saying, "Every scene only works because everyone behind the camera works just as hard as those in front of it. This award belongs to all of them."

The acting categories featured several of Thailand's most recognisable names. Deaw Suriyont Arunwattanakul won Best Supporting Actor for Captive Heart, while Rinlanee Sripen received Best Supporting Actress for Good Heavens! I'm a Goose not a Swan

Smiling on stage, Rinlanee Sripen joked that she hoped audiences loved her character almost as much as they enjoyed arguing about her online. Judging by social media, mission accomplished.

Leading performances also received well-deserved recognition. Alek Teeradetch claimed Best Actor for his performance in Game of Succession, delivering one of the evening's loudest applause moments.

"This role challenged me every single day," he said during his speech. "Thank you to everyone who believed I could bring this character to life. I'll keep working even harder."

Meanwhile, Bow Maylada secured Best Actress for Good Heavens! I'm a Goose not a Swan, capping off an exceptional night for the drama. Clearly emotional while accepting the award, she thanked viewers for supporting the series from beginning to end.

"Every message from fans encouraged us to keep giving our best. This award belongs to everyone who watched and believed in our story."

The biggest prize of the evening ultimately went to Good Heavens! I'm a Goose not a Swan, which was crowned Best Drama, confirming its status as one of Thailand's standout television productions of the year.

Winning Best Drama, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress turned the Channel 3HD production into the ceremony's biggest success story and cemented its place among the year's most celebrated series.

Reaction across social media was predictably lively. Many viewers praised Bow Maylada and Alek Teeradetch as deserving winners, while fans of Khemjira The Series celebrated its technical recognition after months of campaigning online.

Others felt a few fan-favourite dramas deserved more attention, proving once again that no awards ceremony escapes debate. If everyone agreed, the internet would probably get bored after five minutes.

The 40th Thailand TV Gold Awards 2026 successfully celebrated both television legends and a new generation of talent, reflecting how Thai television continues to evolve while honouring its rich history. Whether you agree with every winner or already have your own alternative list, one thing is certain: the conversation is far from over. Which victory made you happiest, which result surprised you the most, and who do you think deserved another trophy?
