J-Pop idol group BrainBeat has confirmed the untimely passing of their member Ni-na, following an accident on 19 May 2025. She was 21 years old.

Ni-na, born on 19 February, was widely known for her striking individuality, captivating performances, and deep empathy for both fans and fellow members. She had been an original member of BrainBeat, where she represented the colour Wolf Blue, and previously performed under the names NI-NA and Nina Vapula (にーな・うぁぷら).

Her career in the idol scene began in 2021 with the group MiiS, where she stood out as one of the original members. She graduated from MiiS on 18 January 2024, and shortly thereafter joined MAZE on 1 February 2024, before withdrawing from the group on 15 April 2024. 

She later returned to the spotlight as a core member of BrainBeat, contributing to the group’s growing popularity with her unique energy and presence.

In an official statement released by BrainBeat, the group expressed profound sorrow and disbelief at the news:

“We are still struggling to come to terms with the reality of Ni-na’s passing. She was truly one of a kind – always considerate of those around her and committed to walking the path of an idol with sincerity and creativity. BrainBeat owes much of its journey to her presence. She will forever remain an irreplaceable part of our group.”

The statement further noted that BrainBeat will continue moving forward while carrying Ni-na’s spirit with them, stating that they will always be a place she could call home.

Details regarding funeral arrangements will not be made public in respect of the wishes of her family. Further announcements regarding the group’s activities are expected to be made on 20 May.

Ni-na stood at 158 cm tall and was born under the Pisces zodiac sign. She was active in the Japanese entertainment industry from 2021 until her passing in 2025, leaving behind a legacy of artistic expression and heartfelt connection with fans across multiple idol groups.
